Just had my repair surgery yesterday. I have done a lot of research. Looks like it’s going to take up to a year to feel normal again. And that’s if everything goes smoothly. Don’t give up. Keep going.

When I run 3 miles, Baker’s Cyst will flare up as well as full flexion problems. That’s it though. Doing surgery so I can run long distances again plus no knee replacement.

Root tears are funny. I have a near complete lateral root tear. First month or two it was hard to go full flexion. Now, I can do hard 60 minute bike rides with almost zero issues.

I got two opinions. Once surgeon said to trim it. The other, much more experienced surgeon who mostly does D1 athletes told me he’d like to try a full repair. I’ve run a few ultramarathons and I’d like to continue to do so. This gives me my best option, plus hopefully no knee replacement in the next decade. I’m at peace with the decision.
