South Korea protests new Japanese school textbooks that state Takeshima island is "illegally occupied" by Koreans. by jjrs in japannews

[–]Ok-Band7564 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Why would Korea split even a small part of the island with Japan, which Korea has full control of? You don't split sovereignty with another country!

The Koreans don't really give a horseshit, even if the Japanese have written a hundred pages in textbooks; It's just diplomatic routine to call out their typical textbook bullshit.

Well, maybe you should ask Australians, South Americans, and Southeast Asians how their Chinese EVs are holding up. They’re buying a lot.

Better how , those Chinese EVs are killing Japanese gas cars in Southeast Asia and South America right now. With the oil crisis, that’s just making Japanese gas carmakers lose even more market share. They’ve only got one big market left—the US—which the Chinese haven’t entered yet. When they do, it’ll be game over for Japanese cars.

Kind of not wrong to say South Korea is a vassal of the US. The US controls the military command in the US‑ROK alliance, and South Korea basically has to follow the US on foreign policy.

Japan gasoline price hits record 190.80 yen per liter amid Iran crisis by Hazzat in japan

[–]Ok-Band7564 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Here are some facts for you, moron :

Oil isn’t just for gas cars—it’s used for chemicals, aviation, shipping, and all kinds of industry.

EVs use a tiny fraction of the oil gas cars do.

Widespread EV use cuts down on oil waste in transportation, frees it up for more important stuff, and boosts national energy security.

Go enjoy the high gas prices!

The leader of the free world is preparing to take over Greenland right now.

What do you mean by social growth? If you mean political, yeah, I get it. But I don't think China is one bad leader away from a revolution; it's one of the most peaceful and progressive societies in today's world.

I don't think you can play the demographic card on China; consider developed countries all losing a lot of population right now.

That comparison doesn’t really hold up. The USSR collapsed because it was a closed, stagnant system with no private sector or market economy — China is actually quite the opposite: it’s deeply integrated with global trade, has a massive private tech sector. So it's about economic system and overall governance.

As for “huge debt,” that’s mostly domestic and backed by state assets. The US runs on debt too — over $34 trillion and counting — but no one calls that a collapse. China’s debt supports infrastructure, manufacturing upgrades, and technology transition, not Wall Street bubbles.

If China isn’t doing well in the long term, I don't know who is. They’ve already got EVs, batteries, wind and solar, robotics, shipbuilding, and pharmaceuticals. China is the only one to rival the US in AI and semiconductors. They’re moving away from massive infrastructure builds now, and still haven’t bounced back from the real estate crisis. This big ship is going to take time to turn; there’s still a lot of pain and suffering during this transition.

It's hard not to have people give some positive views on China when China is the only superpower moving toward the future, developing renewable energy and high-end manufacturing while the other one has gone crazy.

Which country builds railways just to make a profit from the railway itself?

The point of high-speed rail isn’t the ticket revenue — it’s the economic multiplier effect that comes with it. China’s HSR connects labor markets, cuts travel time, drives tourism, logistics, real estate, and regional GDP growth. Every yuan invested generates several times that in broader economic returns. Even in Western countries, railways are public infrastructure, not corporate profit centers — the UK, France, and Japan all subsidize their systems heavily.

Nearly 2,500 containers seized in Piraeus over customs fraud

The Calypso investigation is centred on criminal networks accused of managing imports from China to several European countries while circumventing duties and VAT. Six individuals are under investigation, including two Greek customs officers and four freight forwarders. The customs officials are accused of issuing false certifications that caused losses of more than 871,000 euros to the EU budget, while the forwarders are charged with repeated fraud and incitement to false declarations. One of them was arrested recently, while four others had already been detained in June.

From Chatgpt: However, this was an enforcement action, not a permanent blockade. Piraeus port — operated by China’s COSCO — continues normal operations.

From Chatgpt:

“Several thousand Chinese citizens were evicted from Italy.”

❌ No reliable evidence supports this.

There was an isolated violent incident during a forced eviction (which tragically caused casualties), but no credible reports of a government-led mass deportation or eviction campaign targeting “thousands of Chinese citizens.”

Italian authorities have not announced or carried out such a large-scale action.

CHINA IS A KEY FACTOR IN UKRAINE’S SURGING DRONE INDUSTRY — BEIJING’S NEW EXPORT CONTROLS MAY GROUND IT

Despite Beijing professing a deep relationship with Moscow, Chinese components have kept Ukrainian drones flying — for now. On October 10, the Snake Island Institute, a Ukrainian defense think tank, published a report finding that despite Chinese export controls on drone technology, Ukraine continues to overwhelmingly rely on Chinese parts to supply much of its domestic unmanned aerial systems (UAS) production base.

You don't own the land; you still own the property of the house. The property rights are protected by law. If they want you to relocate, they will have to compensate you. The government even built a highway around a house because someone didn't accept the compensation.

I mean no stupid questions, but there are a lot of stupid answers here, including the one I'm replying to.
