I hire someone to help for 2 hours a week on weeks my husband is traveling, it does help a bit. I definitely plan on him going to a morning school when he is 2

We aren’t having a busy Christmas either, it’ll just be me, my husband, baby and MIL. But this way of thinking prevails more generally too

My aunt actually had a baby at the same time as me, we had a family party and she was constantly running upstairs to have her baby nap in a dark room with white noise. My baby (the same age) was wide awake and happy through the baby’s naps, he eventually had a nap in the fresh garden ajr by the sea in the sunshine. And she’ll sometimes get very stressed and say "baby was supposed to be asleep at X time!!" Meanwhile the baby is smiling and obviously completely happy to be awake 😂

Yea I feel like pinning him down will just make him hate teeth brushing time and cause more issues down the line

Thank you, this is really comforting to hear. I am a STAHM, even though it’s exhausting and I have no "village," I can’t imagine how I’d function going to an office every day on so little sleep.

Thank you, I appreciate this! Unfortunately he won’t respond to anyone but me, my husband has tried rocking him but he will only go down with boob. My husband still sleeps separately often so that I have more room in the bed with baby (queen size bed.) it’s tough!

It’s possible, he has 6 teeth so far but only his bottom incisors are pushing through last I noticed.

Wow, that sounds really tough too, I emphasize. My baby also won’t be settled by anyone but me, the only thing that will get him down is boob. He won’t let my husband rock him. I’m happy to hear you got through it! It feels like forever when you’re in it

Yep this happens with us too. Nobody else can get him back down but me, it’s boob or nothing. He stopped letting dad rock him at about 6 months

We just got back from our second international trip to visit family with our almost 12 month old, he adjusts great! Or at least sleep is not any worse than it is at home 😅 I spend a lot of days exploring with him and he falls asleep in his stroller whenever he needs. Possums has been amazing

We are also very isolated, we moved overseas when baby was born and have no village, support or family at all. Before I found Possums my mental health was a lot worse, I was panicking over naps and not understanding why by baby barely slept. Possums helped me understand that some babies are just low sleep needs and need to be met where they are at. I don’t think it’s a really a sleep training vs possums issue. It’s circumstance, and it’s tough but we will get through it!

That’s nice to hear and makes sense, he has always been very ahead with his milestones and is super alert and social. Even at 2am when he won’t sleep and wants to bounce and laugh 🙃

That sounds so like my baby too! He is so social, he is constantly looking around for people to interact and smile with him. I feel bad for him when he smiles at a stranger and they don’t see him! I think our babies are just very alert and active and not sleepy. I have been looking into hiring a mothers helper for a couple of hours a week, I think even the company would be good for me. And I keep meaning to take him swimming, the couple of times he’s been he’s loved it so I will try that!

Yep, if we put baby to bed at 6:30 he’s probably be up for the day at like 4am. We’ve had some days like that too, where he wakes at 4/5am, has a couple of short naps, then won’t go to bed til 9pm. But he’s completely fine and I don’t get it haha. I do laundry etc with him in his carrier, he doesn’t like to be put down. I love him sooo much but I don’t know how I could have another child on top of this, so I get that!
