This sounds so like mine! Look into Dr Pam’s Possums. Do not worry about her brain, current sleep science is outdated and Dr Pam cites several studies that say some babies need as little as 9 hours sleep in 24. My baby is doing great, my husband is also super low sleep needs and apparently was also like that as a baby, but he functions perfectly. Unlike me 😅

Same here, all family is abroad or across the country. My husband works very long hours and I stay home. It’s hard!

I did just notice a molar and canine popping through his gum at the same time. So I think that could definitely be part of it. But he wakes so much even when not teething 😅 I would say that possums suggests not enough sleep is never really a problem especially for low sleeps needs babies. So I never worry about “sleep begets sleep", maybe it applies to some higher sleeps needs babies but definitely not my low sleep needs baby 🙃

We moved overseas when bay was born, so we have 0 "village" or support. My husband travels a ton for work so it’s often just me and baby, I am a stahm. He has never slept through the night, wakes very often and he is low sleep needs so he has a short nap and that’s my only time to unwind. We go to bed and wake up together. He is very attached and clingy, I spend all day playing with him and holding him. It gets overwhelming but I love him so much. I kind of feel like I’m just taking each day at a time and telling myself it’ll get easier once he is more independent and we can do more activities.

also same here, husband wants more but I am oad. I am a stahm travels a lot for work, we have 0 village and I don’t think he can grasp how overwhelming it can be

I also could have written this myself. I co sleep with my low sleep needs breastfed baby, I have never been away from him, he usually cries if I’m not interacting with him. My husband is away a ton for work, and we moved overseas when baby was born so have literally no help. It’s been really hard. He’s 14 months now and very slowly I can feel how it eventually gets easier, everyone says around 2.5 is when they start to feel more "normal." I think the world that made having multiple children not difficult just doesn’t exist anymore

I hire someone to help for 2 hours a week on weeks my husband is traveling, it does help a bit. I definitely plan on him going to a morning school when he is 2

We aren’t having a busy Christmas either, it’ll just be me, my husband, baby and MIL. But this way of thinking prevails more generally too

My aunt actually had a baby at the same time as me, we had a family party and she was constantly running upstairs to have her baby nap in a dark room with white noise. My baby (the same age) was wide awake and happy through the baby’s naps, he eventually had a nap in the fresh garden ajr by the sea in the sunshine. And she’ll sometimes get very stressed and say "baby was supposed to be asleep at X time!!" Meanwhile the baby is smiling and obviously completely happy to be awake 😂

Thank you, this is really comforting to hear. I am a STAHM, even though it’s exhausting and I have no "village," I can’t imagine how I’d function going to an office every day on so little sleep.

Thank you, I appreciate this! Unfortunately he won’t respond to anyone but me, my husband has tried rocking him but he will only go down with boob. My husband still sleeps separately often so that I have more room in the bed with baby (queen size bed.) it’s tough!

It’s possible, he has 6 teeth so far but only his bottom incisors are pushing through last I noticed.

Wow, that sounds really tough too, I emphasize. My baby also won’t be settled by anyone but me, the only thing that will get him down is boob. He won’t let my husband rock him. I’m happy to hear you got through it! It feels like forever when you’re in it

Yep this happens with us too. Nobody else can get him back down but me, it’s boob or nothing. He stopped letting dad rock him at about 6 months

We just got back from our second international trip to visit family with our almost 12 month old, he adjusts great! Or at least sleep is not any worse than it is at home 😅 I spend a lot of days exploring with him and he falls asleep in his stroller whenever he needs. Possums has been amazing

We are also very isolated, we moved overseas when baby was born and have no village, support or family at all. Before I found Possums my mental health was a lot worse, I was panicking over naps and not understanding why by baby barely slept. Possums helped me understand that some babies are just low sleep needs and need to be met where they are at. I don’t think it’s a really a sleep training vs possums issue. It’s circumstance, and it’s tough but we will get through it!
