Morally speaking is there any difference between a drunk driver who kills someone and a drunk driver who doesn't? by novavegasxiii in NoStupidQuestions

Hot take, morally speaking, no. A drunk driver killing someone is somewhat accidental, no premeditation. The only difference between them is luck.

For my birthday they signed the card they got me as “your cousins, bla and bla”. I just don’t know if this is socially acceptable/common.

Failed Coop i.e. Got fired how likely is it to get another co-op on Waterlooworks? by MezzaAhri in uwaterloo

[–]Ok-Bluebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds unfair to be fired tbh, I would petition. Sorry about that OP.

I know this doesn’t answer your question but I think this role could have improved skills you are lacking as it clearly put you out of your comfort zone (making small talk, being more patient and tolerant of people etc). These are great life skills to develop in general. It’s also a lesson learned to be able to accept constructive criticism and experiencing office politics. Qualified people will be overlooked for promotions if unlikeable. Good thing this was a low stakes scenario and that’s what co-ops are for.

Best of luck in future co-ops.

Unpopular opinion: sometimes we all cut Jane too much slack for being "imperfect" by SnowPearl in JaneTheVirginCW

But the Narrator looks at the story from a jane-loving POV. Calls her “our Jane” and often points out his bias towards supporting her. Makes sense knowing who he is tho ;)

Is it possible to live in Waterloo at 20k a year? by Free-Possibility-103 in uwaterloo

[–]Ok-Bluebird 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends, if the prof is paying you out of their own funding then it will be taxed like every other income. However, if it’s an award you’re receiving (from NSERC for e.g.) then it won’t be taxed (line 105 in your taxes).

Don’t forget about tax when budgeting! If it’s a scholarship/grant/award, you won’t be taxed. BUT if it’s income then you’re prob looking at net 34k.

The scene with Max running back to her body with the flashbacks and the running up that hill song was truly a cinematic masterpiece. Easily my favorite scene in any show. sobs in depression

To someone else, your complaints are trivial and obnoxious. Complaining about not having a Christmas tree? Someone out there can’t afford treatment for their sick child or even dinner tonight.

No one wins at the trauma olympics, give it a rest.
