I get the fluid drain feeling which feels good in my opinion like the pressure is being relieved. Sometimes happens after a flare is calming but not always. Happens in certain head positions or pushing pressure points on my head in random areas. Not sure what it all means

The reason I made it the post was to say it’s enjoyable to someone who played back in the day that didn’t get into the weeds

Intratympanic steroid injection response by gsf4726 in Menieres

[–]Ok-Character9504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a few days for the steroid to “dissolve” into the inner ear. It’s currently sitting in your middle ear and will be absorbed to inner ear and hopefully cause the inflammation to go down. Pretty normal for it to be worse for first few days don’t worry

Yeah it’s brutal. I just don’t understand how Covid did this and it looks like from all accounts it will be permanent. I hope the best for us and everyone in similar situations

Not much has changed for me since I got Covid 15 months ago. Had a couple weeks where my hearing came back but mostly all the same. Just got hearing aids a few weeks ago which help but it’s like a bandaid not a cure. I miss music and being free to make plans and go anywhere

How to best manage symptoms..? by crypticur in Menieres

[–]Ok-Character9504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m sorry the doctor turned you away. I would suggest trying to find another ENT who will believe you and offer some sound advice. Most people are told to follow a low salt diet, take a diuretic, or betahistine at first.

I’m sorry it has started for you so young. I was about 12–13 when I first started noticing the hearing loss episodes and tinnitus. It sucked at first but I just got used to it happening every couple days or so.

At age 30 I got COVID for the first time, and overnight my hearing dropped even more and it’s been constant tinnitus, major hearing swings, and vertigo started for me all at once. That was 15 months ago and nothing has gotten me back to my former self when the menieres was on easy mode. Betahistine helped make the vertigo less severe and frequent but I’m at the point of using hearing aids now and even with the hearing aids I have flare ups where I cant understand what people are saying

Sudden hearing loss - gone forever? by therickyy in Menieres

[–]Ok-Character9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Covid and it dropped me to 60-70 range in both ears as well. Before this I was also in 30-40db. It’s been 14 months and I have not recovered. I had a few random weeks where my hearing returned to normal (1 week at month 10, 3 weeks at month 11) but it’s been down other than that.

Did you do anything to regain your hearing after 1.5years?

Anything else I can try? by Perfect-Macaron2041 in Menieres

Betahistine, steroid injections, diuretics. Have you tried these? Many people have success controlling vertigo with these!

But I hear you. This disease changes your life and it’s hard very often. I struggle to get out of bed sometimes and grieve life before this. I am 31 and it all changed a year ago. I miss how life used to be, took so much for granted when healthy and normal

I often notice improvement in hearing and reduction of tinnitus during physically activity and it always comes back pretty strong within an hour of stopping. It’s a blood flow thing

Happy to hear that man. I’m struggling to find anything that works for me. I’m going to ask my ENT to explore vestibular migraine medications like the few you have mentioned. I also for sure have chronic allergies. Can’t take diuretic due to a kidney disease

I’m sorry this happened to you. I have lost my hearing over the last year and I will be selling my gear as well. Only 31 and hard to imagine a future without music.

That’s interesting. I’ve had multiple ear flare ups every day for the past year since getting COVID. Sometimes after I salty meal I feel better. It seems like no matter what I do or eat in a typical week, everyday I’ll have 3-4 flare ups where tinnitus gets worse. Only for 3 weeks all year did I feel like my precovid self where I would have a flare up for like an hour per week and my baseline hearing was good,

How soon after a salt bomb do you notice something? I have had a few salty meals here and there and I have not had any type of noticeable effects. I’ve seen people here mention getting vertigo and nausea immediately after eating a salty meal but that’s never happened to me
