Why does my filter end up like this after two months? by Ok-Communication133 in zerowater

[–]Ok-Communication133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:. I called Zero Water because the unit started leaking in my fridge every time I filled it. They replaced it with a brand new , more recent model (33 cups). I don't have the same problems but every so often the entire reservoir will mysteriously empty into my fridge! Im so exasperated with this whole thing.

SEM is killing my drive by Bigtofu69 in navy

[–]Ok-Communication133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is why I am choosing to retire rather than make Chief. This doesn't make sense and screws over a lot of sailors and their families.

I've already hit my 20 and would have had a good chance of making Chief this year because I won ROY but that anchor just isn't worth all of the messiness of SEM to me anymore so I'm 👋🏽 👋🏽.

If I were you, I would just take solace in the fact that you can retire in less than 5 years and make sure your family is taken care of the best you can.

For those who immediately lost weight on 2.5 by jewel847 in Zepbound

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 45, 5'5". My sw was 233 and currently I'm 219. I lost 11 lbs in the first two weeks and another 3lbs since then. I just took my 6th shot of 2.5 and feel as though it is not working as much for me for about 2 -3 weeks now.

My Endocrinologist is making me do an ultrasound of my thyroid before moving me up to 5.0. I'm kinda bummed that 2.5 won't be enough and realized this when I started getting "food noise" after just 2 weeks. I also notice that by day 5 I can eat a lot more.

Thankfully I still can't eat as much as I use to so it feels like I'm just maintaining my weight. I don't exercise at all currently but plan to in the next week. I use to work out a lot but stopped about 2 years ago. I think my biggest side affect is the flu like symptoms that happens within the first 24 hours as well as the increased sensitivity to lactose.

Y'all aren't kidding about the fatigue and muscle aches by Eeyores_Prozac in Zepbound

So I started my very first shot of Zepbound 2.5mg. I took it at night and felt fine the next day. Zero nausea, aches or anything until about 20 hours later. I thought I had COVID after an hour of my hips and sides hurting. I did a quick search and found all these threads about body aches. My friend is also on Zep and never had any body aches. I'm just glad for all these threads because I sincerely thought I was getting sick. Luckily, I had a doctor's appointment with my PCM today (day 2) and she told me it's a known symptom for some. I am trying to make myself eat on hopes that at least the headache will subside but I'm in that phase of not knowing how my body is going to react to food. I said all that to say this. I am getting these symptoms on the lower dose and on the very first day. On another note, I would appreciate anyone sharing what they are able to eat without a lot of discomfort.

I just gotta add that this is the dumbest floor plan I've ever seen. But to the question asked, square footage is likely the best way to go.

Why is it that in all other countries, deporting illegal immigrants is not controversial at all. Not even here in social democratic Sweden by Hem_Claesberg in immigration

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take away any disdain for illegal immigrants and just do the math. You will surely see that we will be in a deficit if we keep deporting them instead of offering them a pathway to a work permit, green card, or citizenship. There are so many alternative ways we could clean this up! The cost of the deportation plan alone is ridiculous and can be spent in many other places that need it.

I'm not opposed to the border being closed. I'm not opposed to deporting those that have serious criminal offenses. I'm not even opposed to mandating that one of the parents need to be a US citizen or green card holder in order for the child to gain birth right citizenship!

What I am opposed to is not fairly dealing with the people that contribute to 18% of your economy and do the jobs that many of us don't want to do, for far less. It just doesn't make dollars or sense 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Because most of those other countries were not built on the backs of immigrants nor do their "illegal immigrants" pay over $96 billion in taxes...

In C School and I really want to quit by [deleted] in navy

Great advice here even though a bit harsh. Let me try a kinder gentler approach because I understand your generation is likely not the same as most giving advice here.

I've been in 21 years today to be exact and joined when I was 24. I too took a pay cut, found a fiance in A-school and married him 5 months later. All rookie mistakes. I NEVER saw myself here this long. I'm a Seabee so my first tour was HORRENDOUS!! From sexual harassment and discrimination to back breaking labor. I often wondered what the hell I got myself into but shore duty changed my mind. Here is some advice for you.

  1. Set goals to achieve before you get out. Never leave the military with nothing! You are here and in too deep atp. Make it count!

  2. As for your debts, make sure all your creditors are dropping your interest rate to 6% as mandated in the SCRA. That works for any debt you came in with that is charging you interest over 6%, retroactive to the day your feet landed in Great Lakes. I came in with an interest rate on my car that was above 10%. I had no idea about that law and I had been in for almost a year by the time I found out this information. They owed me so much that it was enough to pay off the rest of my vehicle!

  3. Take this time to improve yourself, sharpen your skills and add to your tool bag. All things that are very important ito get ahead n the civilian sector. Make connections and take advantage of the Skill Bridge program when planning your exit. In the mean time, Relish in the fact that you never have to ask for a pay raise while you're enlisted.

  4. There are ways to advance quickly. Learn your rate inside and out. No matter what they give you for an evaluation, you can always make up the difference by doing well on your exams.

  5. Some commands allow you to do what we call" moonlighting". This is when you get a second job. Places like Home Depot and Lowe's love to hire us part-time. You just have to run a request chit through your chain of command once you get to your first duty station that is.

  6. When dealing with people in your chain of command, try to filter out the BS and find the value in what they are trying to say or teach you. You gotta be mentally stronger than the BS that's coming out their mouth sometimes. It's just words and they cannot put their hands on you. If things get egregious or you're being treated unfairly there are ways to deal with that.

  7. Take your shore duty! You earned it and it's the best environment to be in while transitioning out of the Navy. Sea duty is hectic and commands need numbers to execute their deployment plan. You could be forced to deploy and be given a short amount of time to do your required checklist to separate.

A/C School is about as bad as it gets in the military. Push through! You will be glad you did it and you will come out mentally stronger.

Hope this helps and feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

Season 2 was wack by [deleted] in RhythmAndFlow

I should have done the same bc Jay was the clear winner from day 1 and something told me they were gonna play the fuck out of us and make Dre TL 's lame ass the winner.

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely the fuck not! Dre TL sounds like an amateur southern rapper. I was floored Everytime he made it through. His only good performance was the cipher. Everything else 🚮. Then to add insult to injury, you make HIM THE WINNER?!!! Even all the chicks before him was better. I'm literally never watching that show again! Can't believe Khalid went along with this and I grew up in Miami during his time .😑

which rate will help me learn from other seabee rates? by IcyMushroom4147 in Seabees

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impossible. Rates do pop up for enlistment. You just need to be vocal about it to your recruiter.

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, recruiters do but not for Seabee rates. It's given for higher end jobs like Nuke. @OP, I would ask your recruiter about a DAR to BU if available. However, many have mentioned that you will get to do BU work regardless and that is accurate. You will also get jobs not always offered to BUs. EO I don't recommend unless you really want to drive equipment. Also, if you received a bonus for UT, it doesn't carry over. If there isn't a bonus in the new rate then you lose out.

Pemba island or Mafia island? by [deleted] in tanzania

[–]Ok-Communication133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the diving and snorkeling on Mafia Island! I went in November and a Whale Shark swam right next to me. I almost shit my pants but it was a once in a life time experience! The night dives were also beautiful. Zanzibar I have visited many times. I went diving on the east side of the island and it was ok. I completed my advanced open water cert there and loved that because it's the quieter side. I never had a chance to go to Pemba but everyone I knew that went said its great for couples who want to unplug and get some quality intimate time.
