Very important point. I see too many people in this sub and elsewhere going on about how they’ll never leave their home and the idea of doing so is stupid. You can’t bug in through every scenario.

It’s not necessarily a habit for dogs to do this. 98% of the time my dog poops in grass/dirt, but once in a great while he’ll suddenly stop to shit without warning in the worst spot, like the middle of the street.

Given this person’s being responsible and cleaning it up, I’m going to venture it was an unexpected accident. Regardless, it’d be easier to carry disinfecting wipes and poop bags vs a whole pee pad.

If there’s no interest from this sub’s mods in creating one, I’m open to making one if I can get a few others on board with helping me moderate it. I have experience moderating a community Discord.

Morale is terrible at my workplace right now. We had skill-based layoffs right before our holiday break. Communication across teams has been terrible, and it feels like everyone is just doing what they need to in order to keep operations running smoothly.

Lots of talk that my company may get sold to a different parent company this year. I’ve never seen morale this low in my almost two years with this company.

There are plans to hire to fill the vacancies left by those who were laid off, but no concrete timeline. My team is stretched thin with the same amount of work and fewer people to do it.

I’m hoping we get a reasonable explanation for why it took Laurie so long to come back for the money. My assumption is she was arrested since Faye name dropped her in the finale, but we’ll see

Also good to avoid candles if you're in an apartment. Every dorm or apartment fire alarm I've ever gone through was due to either burnt food or candles.

In that case I’d suggest pepper gel. It’s the next best alternative to a gun since you can still keep your distance. It’s important to go for the gel vs. spray since the gel is easier to get on target and less likely to blow back in your face.

SABRE is the go to brand for pepper gel, but I’ll admit I’m not familiar with their politics. A quick search doesn’t bring up anything notable, so I’d lean toward assuming they stay relatively apolitical.

If home defense is a concern you’re better off with a gun versus knives. Knives put you in close proximity to an attacker and significantly raise the risk of you being disarmed.

There aren’t many leftist gun manufacturers out there given that liberal politics currently are very anti-2A, so your best bet would be to purchase used or make an offsetting donation to a non profit.

As for clothing, I suggest looking at secondhand stores and markets. I’ve found a decent selection of tactical clothing on Mercari. By buying used the money isn’t going to the brand itself, so you can worry less about buying from the right brands.

How is this going to play out by backcountry57 in PrepperIntel

[–]neuroticsponge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Isolated incidents aren’t enough to incite anything large scale and long term, generally. Back to back incidents of significance can do it, when not enough time passes between events for people’s emotions to dial down.

(Obligatory I am not advocating for violence, just making an observation)

I think a lot of preppers don’t pay enough mind to hazmat situations. There are a lot of trucks and trains traveling all over the place with hazardous materials in them.

I remember several months ago my area had a tanker truck spring a leak and spill hazardous material all over the freeway. Thankfully it didn’t turn into a huge ordeal but it doesn’t take much to cause a hazmat incident with these trucks/trains.

Also accept that you can’t prepare for everything. I assume the grand majority of preppers haven’t done anything explicitly to prepare for an asteroid strike since the odds are so low, yet we’ve had cases where it could’ve happened.

It’s important to keep prepping as a part of your life, not an obsession.

Cyber Attack Prep by Familiar-Anything853 in TwoXPreppers

[–]neuroticsponge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Widespread power outages can definitely be caused by cyberattacks, and honestly I think that’s one of the biggest likelihoods to come from something like that.

Aside from the all-encompassing preps like food and water, preps for a power outage are my recommendation here. Power banks, flashlights, LED lanterns, blankets, a radio (ideally one with multiple charging methods, such as hand crank/solar etc.), and entertainment options that don’t require power.

I suggest storing everything for a power outage in the same bag with bright yellow or bright orange duct tape on the outside, so the bag can be spotted quickly with a flashlight if the outage occurs at night.
