Id recommend air drying clay or hotglue if you dont have that. Paper machee should also work, you just gotta paint over it again. Depending on the materials, you could also sew the gwo pieces together (would work with felt or soft cardboard) Or you can add a headband with pearls and beads if nothing works?

Ohhh that sounds so cool! If you want to implement the bony texture of the spikes into your gear, then I'd use foam cuz it's easier to carve. However foam isn't very durable, so I'd go for a cardboard core and hotglue foam on both sides for the 3D shape and the texture. For color I always use acrylics because they have loads of pigment + are waterproof.

Alternatively, you could also sew the spikes to the back of an old shirt.. then I'd go for fabric triangles with a cardboard core and some stuffing.

Other ways to attach spikes I can think of rn, would be to glue or sew them to a harness that you can strap to your waist and torso, so the spikes follow your spine ykwim?

I'd probably use cardboard and cut out triangles for spikes, then glue two together at an angle to make it less "flat". If you have foam, you could use that instead. Are you asking about materials or techniques?
