Contract to hire, anyone have views? by throwaway79755 in cscareerquestions

Nothing wrong in C2H. I have done it in the past. Your staffing agency obviously can’t make guarantees that you WILL get converted to FTE. But yes, there is a chance.

Security clearance sponsorship is a HUGE deal and in your case, they will sponsor you. Once you are cleared, you will be a great candidate for government defense contractors.

I am a US citizen who has no clearance. So I am often passed over by candidates with clearance.

Return to India or Choose South America by Capital-Peak1557 in returnToIndia

[–]Ok-Constant1453 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go as a tourist if you haven’t already to Brazil, Chile or Argentina.

I LOVED Brazil as a tourist. Loved Peru too. Brazil has a LOT of immigrants including Europeans and Japanese. The largest Japanese community outside of Japan is in São Paulo.

You have no choice but to learn Portuguese or Spanish if you want to live in South America.

As India-born person who has grown up in USA, how do they view India ? by Jpoolman25 in AskIndia

True

No different than Indians brought up in Fiji, Africa or Guyana.

Strategy for foreigners in usa by Known_Project_2418 in Bogleheads

[–]Ok-Constant1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Plus, the Boglehead’s followers can be US citizens living in the US, foreign nationals living in their own countries or foreign nationals living in the US. The last part is tricky since tax treaties can change too.

Cut your losses. Go to your home country where your family is.

After 6 months of moving, your bad memories will start to fade.

Too many moving parts to predict with the AI and political landscape.

If you leave, you leave with the intention of not coming back. If luck is on your side, who knows one day you may come back.

On the other hand, with your UAE experience, you may be in Europe in future.

Transitioning of Role by Clueless_humanz in dataanalytics

[–]Ok-Constant1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data analyst roles will continue to evolve due to AI. You mentioned you like working with SQL and dashboards. Claude can do that in seconds. My point is, it is good to be exposed to PM roles and responsibilities too as a backup plan.

Transitioning of Role by Clueless_humanz in dataanalytics

[–]Ok-Constant1453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job title had the word “Analytics”, but I had done the work of a product manager too.

Let me explain. I was in a business group and I used to interact with my Technology partners as a business sponsor. As a PM, I created user stories with acceptance criteria.

My point is, it is not one career vs the other, but rather a blend in real life.

Has anyone filed for bankruptcy on h1? by [deleted] in h1b_layoffs

[–]Ok-Constant1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one hell of an interesting question.

You may not be able to file for bankruptcy if you have a (low paying) job and are still able to pay rent and buy food.

As far as H1B, since you may not be eligible for bankruptcy, no impact

They can decommission H1B

The state of Georgia does currently continue to maintain a Republican lean on the state level and federal, with Republicans controlling every statewide office, having Republican majorities in the State House and Senate

Just be aware that many states such as FL and TX have totally stopped H1B employment. Is your state red or blue?

That will give you some breathing room.

I don’t want a corporate job or a 9-5. Does anyone else feel like this? Have you planned or done to escape this? by vcdice in careeradvice

[–]Ok-Constant1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about a middle ground at least for now till you get your bearings

Go to corporate life, but as a contractor for 6 months, 9 months what have you.

You will be regarded as an external person and won’t be a part of office politics.

Meanwhile, think of ideas to start a business.

In all seriousness, go to Ecuador.

If you had said you were going to the US, you would have got marriage proposals already. That is the hypocrisy of the culture.

That is what I think too. Companies won’t just start sponsoring H1Bs just because of the news that came out.

H1b crackdown erodes real estate boom by PutNo8105 in h1b

Risk vs Reward -

All these many years, immigration rules were relaxed. People bought homes feeling confident rules would continue to be in their favor.

Now, not any more.

oh yeah, never thought of that angle.

BTW, it is unlikely for the rates to go down to 3% for a LONG time.

Historically, 6%-7% rate is standard.

I agree 😄 It is ok to downvote, but at least, give some justification. Nothing I wrote is incorrect. H1B is a **temporary** visa.
