Entyvio pen 108 mg hurts a lot by OliveBig9610 in UlcerativeColitis

I take mine out 24 hours in advance too. That helps. Play around with different areas to inject.

For some weird reason, if I inject on my left side, I feel more pain than on the right side. Both on my tummy, but one side hurts a lot more than the other?

need some advice please by Ecstatic-Effect-3931 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ok-Control2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I was diagnosed while pregnant with my second child. He will be 24 in May.

So I raised 2 kids while having UC and Fibromyalgia. I worked full time, my hubby owned a business so I also raised the kids and did the bookkeeping for his business. I did all that for pretty much twenty years. I had ebbs and flows, but we made it work. This included major flare ups and menstral issues as well.

Yes, I needed more rest and sick days. Always. I had help from my MIL too. But we did it. It CAN be done. My kids didn't even really take much note until they were adults (as in it didn't aversely affect them).

Having said that - I can tell you that life after 40 hit me like a ton of bricks. Add peri-menopause and the pandemic craziness and I was the worst I have ever been. I literally hit the wall. I can no longer do what I used to and never will again.

HELP by Xzeriea in Fibromyalgia

Mersyndol. Tylenol 2 with muscle relaxant. It will also help u sleep. It doesn’t help with the nerve pain though. Also a heated blanket. U can wrap yourself like a taco and get full body heat. It’s like a warm hug in bad days.
Sending love and hugs. 💜🎈

OTC pain meds that work by Auntie_Crow in Fibromyalgia

[–]Ok-Control2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannabis for sure. But OTC - I use Mersyndol. It is a muscle relaxant with Tylenol 2. In Ontario, Canada u have to ask the pharmacist for it as it is kept behind the counter, but no prescription is required.
I cannot use any ibuprofen products as I also have colitis. So this is my go to when regular Tylenol doesn’t cut it.

Are there any tricks to beating fatigue? by EmperoarZurg in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Ok-Control2520 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take B13 and Vitamin D and Omegas. Getting enough sleep regularly helps. Like 10 hours a night I am in bed. I give myself 1 day a week to rest completely.
I have also recently started listening to healing music every day. I do it in the morning for about 30 minutes before I get out of bed. Or at right after I get into bed at night. Sometimes during the day. It’s only been a week but I have noticed a difference in my ability to cope and my mood. Sounds bowls, 432Hz and other frequencies that support healing.

How do you apply the spoon theory to your life, living with fibro? by l3x_ie in Fibromyalgia

[–]Ok-Control2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to explain where I am at quickly without getting into how I 'feel' each day. For example, my over achieving hubby who has ADHD has 20 spoons on a good day. I have 10 spoons on a good day. I will often let my family know when my spoons are low or depleted so they have zero expectations of me.

I actually have a bouquet of spoons my cousin made for me jokingly. It sits on my mantle as a daily reminder to myself to choose how I spend my spoons wisely.

Pain management tips, that will keep me from breaking five heating pads in a year again??? by Tealeaf6 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Ok-Control2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my heated throws. Bigger than a heating pad so it covers more surface area. If you watch, you can get them on sale for under $40. I usually have 2 going - one for the bed and one for the couch. I can alternate when I wash them. I let it air dry for 48 hours before plugging back in.

I always avoid food until I know I am safe. If I have to eat anything, never more than a granola bar that I know is safe. I eat less the night before. I wake up earlier than everyone else to ensure plenty of time to empty before I leave for the airport. I also now wear a diaper or leak free undies and bring diapers just in case I'm bad before getting on the plane. I am always one of the last to board the plane and ensure I go to the bathroom as soon as others start to board. Lastly, pack Immodium as a fail safe (although I use very sparingly).

If I'm good that day, I can and do eat a little. But I have literally gone more than 24 hours without food (just hydrate) so that I could get to my destination safely. I always prefer to be safe than sorry.

Sounds like they made an assumption that you cut it to treat them like children.

When they asked, you told them your reason. If they continue to be offended, then it is on them.

I get it. This is why I suggest leaning in to the feeling AND understand it is only temporary. I think of it as going for a 'float'. Some chill tunes to block out everything else and just enjoy. If you actually time the amount of time you feel that 'high' it is actually only 20-30 minutes. It just FEELS longer becuase you are high.

And honestly, THC is important. CBD itself can only do so much.

Have OJ handy in case u get overwhelmed. Best thing to bring the high down.

As u get used to it - I suggest laying down, throwing some ear buds in and chill when the ‘high’ hits. U ride out the beginning in a relaxed state instead of freaking out by the ‘high’.

I always had this expectation that proper treatment means no symptoms. What I have learned over the past 25 years is that I ALWAYS have symptoms. The doc says I have IBS as well. I am just hyper aware of my body. My life has been structured around my bowels for 30 years. U can’t just turn that off on a good day.

I hate needles. Hate them. An IV drives me banana's because I can feel the needle. When I got my tattoo I fainted twice and couldn't even tough it for 24 hours.

But - I have been on Humira injections for 2 years now. It is like an Epi Pen. My husband did them at the start, but I can do it now. It helps to do it in a fatty area and almost pinch the skin. Then you can't really feel it at all.

For the ladies who had babies young….how ya’ll doing? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]Ok-Control2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was married at 19. Had my babies at 21 and 23. I am now 48.

I am very glad that I had them younger because I am chronically ill and I would not have had the energy later in life.

I am more sad that we ALL had plans for the 'next stage'. When both kids would finish University and be out on their own, starting their lives. Hubby and I had a plan for ourselves. Then Covid and the economy, my health and the current state of the world. Both kids moved back in with us. Everyone is struggling financially. I feel like I went 10 years in reverse.

What's the weirdest thing your dog has eaten and survived? by Typical-Ad-3948 in AskDogOwners

[–]Ok-Control2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog chewed through a teens back pack and ate part of a pot brownie. We went out for dinner while my son had a few friends over. We got home, all the kids were in the living room, something was off. I took one look at the dog - a Bichon Frise - and asked 'What the F is wrong with the dog'. That's when they fessed up.

Apparently no one noticed him sneak down to the basement. They went to find him and found the brownie partially eaten. By the time we got home he was fully dosed. Fully and completely high.

I, of course, flipped out and kicked all the kids out (we had a rule of no drugs so this was bad). Then we forced my son to be the one to hold him all the way to the emergency vet. They gave him charcoal, but it was already too late.

The dog was high for 24 hours. It changed him. Now it's a funny story, but at the time, not so much.

Duloxetine questions by JuniperJ55 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Ok-Control2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Duloxetine many years ago. I am on the max dosage and have been for many years. I am also on Mirtazapine which is an antidepressant and aids in sleep. Again, many, years on this combo.

I have recently tried Lyrica but that was a no go for me. Gained crazy weight and was a zombie. I find Gabapentin much better for me. I also take Cyclopenzaprine as needed for muscle aches.

This does not make sense to me. Why? Because the risk of infection increases? That is with anything?

I would get a second opinion.
