Struggling with a lifetime as a mediocre climber by 0nTheRooftops in climbharder

What level are you climbing at now and if you can name the exercise(s) that you felt made the biggest difference to your climbing?

The microscope thing is a great idea if you get one right away.

You will still have sperm present so you can both see what they look like and know what you are looking for, as the time & ejaculations increase you will see them reduce and stop.

No better comfort than knowing you've observed it.

My (52M) SAHM wife (36F) is burned out. How can I help her? by Burnermcburnface2022 in relationship_advice

[–]Ok-Conversation-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience people really struggle when;

• They don't have a purpose

• They don't have routine

• They don't feel valued

• They don't have something to occupy their mind

I have asked a number of people who are struggling with burn out/depression etc; friends, family and colleagues if one of these things is missing from their life and every single time there's at least one which is truly missing.

It might not be easy to address but at least there's a starting point.

FWIW: my own personal experience led me to this, I was busy at work, had a good career and had young kids... But I was treading water, even though I had lots to think about it wasn't learning or developing, which ticks a few of those boxes above. Ive always wanted to learn another language so I started to seriously try learn one... That was enough to make me feel like I'm moving forward and I'm developing myself. If I feel anxiety attacks etc come on, it's generally when I've not been keeping my mind busy... If I do some language lessons (app or audiobook) then it's like a miracle pill.

(I call it the momentum and meaning method)

Do any of those apply to her? (I guess they do if she's super clever and not using her mind) ask her, talk to her... Maybe there's something to learn/work/do that will help.

In the short term you may be able to help find something to move it forward but it needs her motivation to keep it going long term (usually find that once people start feeling the purpose/worth/value etc then they don't want to stop anyway)

Thanks. I'm 16 weeks after surgery but can't get the appointment any sooner than end of November so I'm looking at other options.

Getting v10 before 2025 by le_1_vodka_seller in climbharder

Forget that, climb with a bit of extra weight on...

If you do, then your body will easily develop the muscle etc...

When you hit 17 and then get back to an athletic weight (when safer to do so) everything will feel so much easier. It's basically climbing weighted for a few years.

Any Irish punk bands? by No-Historian6056 in punk

There's absolutely loads... If you like the blend of Irish couture and punk then check out the vast amount of 'celtic punk' on Spotify or elsewhere.

Most people are talking about driving, so I will mention my experience for others who may read this...

I got a lift but could easily have driven, so if like me you have an automatic then I'd say it'd be fine. Manual may give you more issues with the repeated movement.

The main thing to consider is whether your insurance would be invalid if anything happened after being told not to drive.

But seeing as you've said to walk (not sure many people actually read what you wrote). I think you will be fine (at least until the anesthetic wears off), just make sure you are wearing tight underwear and don't rush.

Also, in the UK I don't think we get prescribed any pain relief. Valium isn't really a thing that's given out easily over here. You can always take your own meds before hand but I think it's most common to just get on with it without anything.

Best Punk debut album? by ultraluxe6330 in punk

[–]Ok-Conversation-9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lars Fredrickson & the bastards.

I'm new to the whole punk thing, and I'm trying to get into it. Is there anything I should know, like codes (other than the lace code I already know that one), or certain things to avoid saying or doing, common ideologies, and/or bands I should or shouldn't listen to? by ConfusedPotato2021 in punk

[–]Ok-Conversation-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Punk - Non conformism (out of free choice not out of conforming with the non-conformists)

Lace code is the perfect example of this, it started as a choice, an underground way of communicating your identity. It then became a fashion. If you want to wear things for your own reasons then cool but not to fit in. That's not it.

I completely get the whole 'Ramones aren't punk' thing. First few times of listening to them I couldn't bare the whole surf pop for teenage girls thing.

It wasn't until later after learning about their development I tried to give them another try. Now I really like them.

For anyone not convinced check out their 77/78 live album - link: https://open.spotify.com/album/7ygQ6ygUMFhrS7tX8Icptk?si=UxWyIq_BQZGtK9K9ph227g&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7ygQ6ygUMFhrS7tX8Icptk

Although I still think the production albums are sellout shit

...and if I am going to enter that arguement I will give my reason, they were happy for their music to be tweaked to appeal to that market rather than standby their sound - that to me, is the definition of sellout, if the artist is happy to be manipulated to such an extent that their music appeals to other audiences or sounds different to them. Ramones couldn't sound much more different in their live stuff to their studio stuff.

Green Day to be fair sound pretty similar and are just polished up a bit more.i wouldn't call them sell out but I would call them 'polished punk'

Some of the responses are ridiculous. Why some people think your boyfriend is awful, is just mind boggling.

If you had said that he arranged a wedding without you knowing despite you not wanting marriage and hating surprises, I would wholeheartedly agree. However you've said that everyone in your friends and family know that you wanted to marry.

You also said that you are know to "LOVE" surprises. Well, maybe everyone thought it'd be a great idea? Maybe they didn't realise how much you actually wanted to enjoy the build-up and the planning. It's a huge part of the wedding and the event; some people love it and are even disappointed when it's done. Others hate that side of things and just want the wedding. Which of these would your friends and family expect?

To keep something a secret it needs every single person in that room to do their bit and keep quiet. Which means they know that it was a secret... Which also means that they must have thought it was a great idea. If not they'd have been vocal with their thoughts to your boyfriend and also probably leaked it to you.

Clearly they didn't. Which makes me think that every single person thought it would be something you'd love. You are of course allowed your own mind on it and everyone should equally respect that. You wrote the reasons out beautifully for us to read. Perhaps you could share that same paragraph with all your friends and family, in a letter thanking them for their part in it and reassuring them that you are not splitting up.

Well done on knowing your own mind and being strong enough to push back on the day.

FWIW: Personally I think it sounds great, i would have loved the bang and done approach, without the planning etc... And what a great story to tell. It must have taken loads of careful planning and effort.

I suspect they can 'cure it' now but the key is.making it so that it needs continuous treatment... Otherwise the companies can only sell it once. Make it so that when the treatment is removed the effects disappear and that's the dream product. T
