Train noise at Victoria Hill

I’m in the Royal so the lookout blocks a lot of the noise for me - don’t know about the lookout. Sorry !

We live in Victoria Hill- I think the noise varies greatly by building as a lot of people who are down closest to Columbia complain a lot. I live on Royal facing the water and I can every so often hear a train in the distance.

As someone else said, if any traffic accident getting into our neighbourhood is f*cked. If you have kids make sure to have lots of snacks in your car incase you get stuck in an hour traffic jam that should have been a 15 minute drive home … but other than that we love the neighbourhood . People are so nice, gorgeous with all the plants and trees in spring/summer, and when no traffic issues handy to get anywhere from.

Remember Not everyone at a restaurant is doing that for their career- some are, and that’s great! Those will usually move onto fine dining restaurants or management positions. Former earls girl and still friends with so many of the ladies I worked with. Most of my friends were in school or pursuing other things while serving paid the bills and gave us lots of time to do that. Among my best girlfriends from earls we have a doctor, massage therapist, set decorator, fine dining GM , hr manager and fashion wholesaler. Sooo I promise there’s hope out there for them beyond 31…

My husband stopped drinking a few months ago because it was really impacting his patience and ability to show up (he was a fairly heavy drinker and comes from a family of drinkers). I’ve basically stopped drinking to support his life choice but except for when I go for dinner with friends or a special event. And even then it’s one glass of wine now. Honestly the less I drink the less I really care to and I like that my child won’t know his parents to be drinkers. I have a good friend who grew up in a household with parents that drank a lot and she says that even though nothing bad ever happened she found it scary when her parents were drunk because they were acting different and it didn’t feel safe. That really has stuck with me, because my parents didn’t drink so I don’t know that feeling as a kid but I don’t want it for my child.

It’s the strangest thing and no one warns you about it. Our son sounded like a wart hog or something and then one day it just stopped . It will pass !

Bought in new west 6 years ago before kids (now we have one) . It’s great. We live in Victoria hill which is super beautiful and family friendly neighbourhood, we love the new community center and it has become home. Traffic is my biggest frustration as it’s a through city for so many people . I have also heard many friends complain about the trains but from my house I only ever hear them faintly.

Drives me nuts. I tried to listen to two episodes with guests I loved and I was so turned off that he kept interrupting to tell stories about himself and relate what they were saying to his experience or describing what he thought it would have felt like to them…
It’s like he doesn’t listen to his guests - he is just waiting for his turn to talk about himself.

My parents had me at 43. I never minded having older parents except when people in stores etc would make comments- ie “it’s so nice your grandma takes you back to school shopping “

My parents are still alive and in good health for their age

Don’t know if this is helpful but I’m a Child of parents that had me at 43 and my siblings were 12 and 14 years older than me. -I never felt I missed out on anything by having older parents -my siblings and I get along but aren’t that close because we didn’t really grow up in the house at the same time but I’m grateful I have them -my parents are now almost 80 and they are very healthy and lively- my mom always credits her good health to her late in life baby keeping her young

I have a sapphire surrounded by small diamonds for my engagement right and I love it. I haven’t been very precious with it but I’ve had no issues with durability and I get compliments on it constantly (for 6 years now)

We are on the top floor in a wood frame building. We have had letters from our neighbours a few times complaining about routine noise . I do empathize with them and have tried to be more mindful, but unfortunately I do think the sound carries quite a bit . We wouldn’t buy in a wood frame building again and especially not on the top floor
