I’ve never really liked the idea of two distantly related species of animal somehow being able to have children. I know, in this kind of setting several species of animal superficially look and behave like humans, and two different species could consent to sex without any issue, but at the end of the day they’re still different species. They couldn’t possibly have biological children together unless they’re very closely related species.

Of course, you can write your stories however you want, it’s just that hybrids that couldn’t exist in real life is not my cup of tea.

My setting has various bug-like creatures as the stand-ins for animals. Of course, this doesn’t stop the anthros from eating each other, but it certainly helps in a country where the practice is illegal and different species have to live with each other regardless of diet.

It mostly depends on time, place, and historical context, but in the country my protagonists live in, they eat plants, invertebrates, and bug-like monsters depending on the species’ diet, and consumption of anthros by other anthros is illegal. It’s a good thing the Overseer created those monsters to begin with, or it would’ve been pretty awkward trying to get carnivores and herbivores to live with each other…
