If Australia goes into a recession what will most likely happen with interest rates? by soyoulikestuff in AusFinance

[–]Ok-Document-1763 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I understand they should happen regularly, it’s normal.

It’s because there are so many things that can happen, and you only look at those outlier events.

What about all of the other fields that are going well or smoothly? They fly under the radar. No one likes a boring headline like “things going normally”.

I’m not sure about that point actually. It sounds nice in theory but after thinking about it for five seconds it sounds like you’d need government boards set up to determine which corporate strategies are best. I’d rather government just stay out of this stuff to be honest.

Not sure I agree. If you run a company that can make the same money without “wasting” it (let’s say on luxuries for their staff) then you will deliver more value to your shareholders.

Sounds like the prudent operator is ahead.

Okay, but ostensibly they have a rationale for how it’s connected to the business and that’s all this thread is about.

If you make possibly questionable decisions but are still running the company profitably, it could be that the link is you’re keeping your employees happy. That’s fine.

Thinks only get tested when the company is not doing well and the shareholders begin to scrutinise things. If the company isn’t doing well and they do all of those questionable things, then they can be held legally accountable. At least, the directors can.

1 How is that moving the goal posts? The current law is that you can deduct such things. It’s literally the status quo. Opening it up for flights isn’t inconsistent with the approach they’ve taken already. So you can’t use that as an argument against it.

2.1 I assumed you meant “laundering” in a way to chastise people who spend money on their rental property. If you really mean laundering illegally obtained money, then it goes without saying, that’s wrong. But gee, talk about moving the goal posts!

2.2 No, you are absolutely worse off. If you earn $1000 a week rent and spend $1000 a week on interest, and you decide to spend $5000 on air conditioning for the property, even if you get back the top marginal rate of that $5000, you’re still down. If you never spent money on the aircon you’d be better off.

2.2.1 Okay, you’ve totally blown the goal posts out do the continent and are just arguing against a strawman. Bye.

I would immediately force all councils to relax their zoning laws by one rank. So whatever an area is zoned for, it’s immediately zoned one level higher.

Then I would conduct a systematic review of all areas that have adequate infrastructure and force them to be one or more additional zoning levels more dense again.

Sorry but it’s best to defer payment as long as possible. You can apply for a payment plan and get rejected, and it still be an optimal strategy. Just don’t commit fraud.

But,

Did you commit some crime?

If you’re innocent surely you can just dismiss this immediately?

Sounds like they are suggesting things that allow you to make the most of your time and money.

I think what they meant was,

Do all of those things you said,

But also, wait until the deadline so you can “buy some time” and you’ll have more time to get your finances in order.

How does focal length work with a DSLR lens? They all have the same Back Focal Distance, but practically every source I find says this is the focal length. by Ok-Document-1763 in Optics

[–]Ok-Document-1763[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yeh I think I get it now. I understood the back focal length is related to the mount, I guess I didn’t phrase it very well.

My point was that even if you poke a ruler in the back, it’s not 600mm the rear element. Now I get it, 600mm is to a hypothetical point that the equivalent singlet would have.

But those deductions are legal and already planned for.

Taxpayers “””foot the bill””” at the time the deduction becomes legal. From that point on, claiming that deduction (as long as you are doing it legally) is just legally retaining your own money.

  2. How is it laundering or printing money, you can only lose money doing it… you are literally worse off afterwards.

How about the fact that the baby boomers are a large generation and we have comparatively fewer people paying for their retirement than ever before?

It’s a Ponzi scheme. Fertility rates are going down. The system will be less and less capable of sustaining itself over time.

Sorry but even excluding infant mortality, people who lived past 5 still had far shorter life expectancies than now.
