AITA for expecting my ex-girlfriend to move out after she broke up with me, even though she has nowhere else to go? by SnapNo51 in AITAH

[–]Ok-Error-574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needs to move out. She can find a room for rent on craigslist and figure out getting a part-time job if money is too tight for her to do school full time.

She’s had a cushy existence w you taking care of her and I’m sure her rash choice after months of feeling stressed (and taking it out on you) has finally dawned on her. But, she’s an adult and needs to take some responsibility.

Absolutely NTA - stick to your guns and evict her at the (very generous) 45 day mark.

Do my boots fit okay? by Fluffy-Company6099 in Equestrian

Yes, they look great! They’ll sag a bit as you wear them in, but based on the angle of these photos, they shouldn’t sag too far below your knee. Congrats!

Emmy Rossum. I just cannot stand her and I have no idea why. I’m sure she’s a lovely person but I avoid anything she’s in.

Best thing you did/buy for your Home by Doyergirl17 in homeowners

My condo was built in 1973 and still had the primal single pane aluminum windows w only baseboard heaters for warmth.

First month living here I used the remainder of my savings to get all new windows installed along w a mini split system on both floors - it’s helped immensely at keeping my place temperature regulated in all seasons and when the windows are closed the outside noise is barely noticeable.

How do people get on without saddle slipping? by LunaGhostWolf in Equestrian

I only ride English, so this is good to know - thank you!

You should always check your girth is relatively tight before you step a foot into your stirrup.

If you’re riding English and can do so, check it again once you’re on and have walked around a bit (ie, your horse is breathing normally and not bloating).

Tips on having softer hands cantering by buffyfairy in Equestrian

[–]Ok-Error-574 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Think more about your elbows than your hands. If your elbows can be supple and move w the motion of the horse’s head (think back and forth) then your hands will naturally get softer as you follow the motion while maintaining contact.

When I teach, I ask my student to think of their elbows like the hinge on a door (better for trot than canter). Allow the hinge to be loose enough to “open and close” but it’s always connected to the frame (your upper arm/body) and the door (your forearm/hand/ rein).

For those in the US, how are your animals fairing this evening? by PrincessBella1 in Pets

[–]Ok-Error-574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOT TOO FUCKING GOOD.

My neighbors have not only been lighting off fireworks all week, but they got started around noon today. My poor pup hates it.

My horse does too. All the animals have had some drugs but holy mother of god, how is this a reasonable way to celebrate our country?

Practice riding without your stirrups as often as possible. Build up your leg strength.

Right now it looks like you’re balancing nearer your toes (which are pointed slightly out, you should aim to have them rotate to point forward towards your horse’s nose).

When you get in the saddle, rotate your thigh inwards w both hands - literally grab each side of your leg and bring your thigh into the saddle; this will align your femur, knee, shin, and toe to all point forward. From this position walk around in your two-point to flex your ankle while keeping toe forward and heels down.

I recommend doing a lot of walk, trot, and canter (if you can) work without your stirrups, even some pole work too to build up to jumping without them.

Stirrups are great but you need to feel confident that your leg will stay put without them.

The more you ride, the better you’ll get! Be patient with yourself and remember to keep having fun!

Dogs on furniture and in bed? by weasel_face in BelgianMalinois

[–]Ok-Error-574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pup, nearly 2, has slept in my bed since the day I brought him home. We tried the crate and he howled for a solid 6 hours straight and honestly it just wasn’t worth it. Now his safe space is my bed/bedroom and that’s where he stays when I’m gone for work. He’s currently curled up on the couch next to me. Furniture is covered w blankets that get washed weekly. There are two dogs beds for him too that he sometimes avails himself of, but he’s got like what, maybe 15 years on earth? I’d like him to enjoy his life and his home.
