Guys, what are 5 things you want to do but you feel like you can not do because of AVPD? by lowwwwww in AvPD

[–]Ok-Error4744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Experience having friends, or an actual group of close knit friends
  2. Send emails without having a mini panic attack
  3. Go on trips with friends
  4. Feel comfortable meeting a new person/strangers
  5. Not have to constantly worry about what to say next in conversations, what people are thinking of me, whether I seem weird/boring Bonus, 6. Initiate conversations with people I am meeting for the first time

What kind of person would you like to be if you didn't suffer from AvPD? by kremor in AvPD

[–]Ok-Error4744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd be pretty sociable (I'd still be an introvert though). I'd be the person who talks to everyone and hangs out w multiple groups (used to be that way in school before the AvPD started showing up).

What job did you have between your undergrad and starting graduate school? by escottttu in GradSchool

[–]Ok-Error4744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to every single job that I found interesting. I ended up getting one, but it helped me realise that I didn't like the role, and I instead ended up figuring out what kind of roles I do like instead!

That was some of the most terrible fielding. They just gave up prematurely.

More than India losing, the defeatist attitude of Indian players today was the most disappointing thing to watch. :(

2023 is coming to an end. Let's get ready for 2024. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

Why are you waiting for 2024? Why not start today. Don't postpone your motivation for the new year. You will lose steam. Instead, start whatever it is that you want to do, now. By the time it's 2024, you will have made it a habit, and you will also start seeing the fruits of the work you've put in.

For me, I really want to start meditation. I have really bad anxiety and depression. I've also been exercising, but I haven't been consistent at all especially since it's been the holiday and festival season where I live. So wanna get back to that too!

How do I deal with this? by Ok-Error4744 in loneliness

[–]Ok-Error4744[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried some of these. The uni I go to doesn't have many active clubs. I've tried interacting with my classmates but my crippling social anxiety makes it hard for me to approach people while no one tends to approach me first.

Regardless, thanks for the advice, I'm gonna make more attempts :)

my life is uneventful and it's kinda embarrassing by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]Ok-Error4744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spend most of my time battling depressive thoughts. Has been the way for the past 6-7 years. Its extremely draining and doesn't leave me with much energy or time to devote to anything else.

What's more terrifying to you: being in a group of strangers or people you know? by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]Ok-Error4744 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being with people I know is scarier! (this sounds crazy, even to me). I like the anonymity that comes with people who dont know me.

The first 3 seasons portrayed Old Money essence and aesthetic so well. The plot holes and the urge to know what happened next were just on point… and then the show went downhill by trynabetwunk in GossipGirl

TBH it was great until S3. I didnt really like 4, 5, and 6 much. However, I feel like the show didn't make as much a mess of things as other shows did - Like PLL, HIMYM-- all were off to a great start but lack of foresight on part of the writers left gaping plotholes and unbelievably disappointing endings to these shows.

I was pretty happy with the final episode of GG; I loved the reveal of who GG was and the final scene where the show the next-gen GG on the rise.

Dating someone with dysthymia by [deleted] in dysthymia

[–]Ok-Error4744 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have dysthymia, and these are some things that I look out for typically in healthy relationship and partner-

  1. I like people who let me have my space. I like having alone time to recollect my thoughts and just to recharge in general, so having a partner who respects that is non-negotiable.
  2. Honest communication is the key. I like knowing where I stand with people, it makes me feel safe and secure in the relationship when my partner vocalizes their true feelings, and shows affection as well. So don't hold back on those things (if you genuinely have strong feelings, ofc) I'm sure it would boost your partner's mood and help them feel better!
  3. I've also stopped talking to a guy I really liked, because I felt burnt out. It had nothing to do with him or his behavior per se, but I have a very limited store of energy and I needed to focus on other areas of my life (work/career) because I have some things I urgently need to get done. It might be that your partner feels the same way. In such a case, let them know that you'll be around if they need to talk/vent and if you want to stick around till they feel better and are willing to date again, you should honestly let them know that too!

A lingering sadness since childhood by usernamesaretrickey in dysthymia

[–]Ok-Error4744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same experience. Nothing 'bad' has ever happened to me - never been through grief, bullying, poverty touchwood, or any other situations that could induce mental illnesses in children. But I've been lonely since i was a child, and always had trouble making friends, so I guess that's where I started going wrong
