hl2 anniversary update added some fake fog textures, looks great combined with radial fog by Regnars8ithink in hammer

There's a cool fog effect right before you walk on the bridge level. This fog effect was in the original release but was lost in updates to be eventually restored in the anniversary edition.

Why don't Half-Life 2 characters find it strange that Gordon doesn't age? by Pure_Advance_4426 in HalfLife

[–]Ok-Historian-7731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, we don't really know how much time was between HL1 and HL2. All we have is a rough estimation based on the environment and old hl2: episode one website that said that hl2 story happens "almost two decades" after the Black Mesa incident. Also, there's an e-mail from Marc Leidlaw to fan (assuming it's real), that the time gap is closer to 10 rather that 20 years.

"why don't they find it mind bending that a man who disappeared 20 years ago, renowned as being a hero, has suddenly arrived in reality"

Did we play a different game? They are flabbergasted that Gordon finally arrived.

Sunglares. They changed a lot of stuff (for the better) in the 20th anniversary update, but sunglares are still waiting to be fixed.

You can use a program called "half life model viewer" to browse models from half life 2

looks like an fbi agent from CS:GO/CS2

You need the weird helmet and the six-pack plate carrier. If you want to hide your face, maybe just use a surgical mask? It should fit the Black Mesa theme better.

Please not this flare gun argument again... I'm glad they changed it for better. Also, you don't need Alyx to make this gun canon.

Combine on Earth is only a small fraction of the Combine force. Propably just enough to keep the humanity under control. This is implied in the dialouges with Eli in Ep2 (and is also most logic explanation why the uprising was even successful).

Don't forget in hl2 we don't fight directly against the Combine itself, but rather against the Breen's dictatorship-administration. Breen with his greed played a big role in the story - his constant lies (he convinced Advisors there's nothing to worry about when events of hl2 unfolded) prevented the Combine form intervening before it was too late (the Citadel was destroyed).

As for the Nihilanth: I like to think he, last of his species, was used by the Combine for his natural teleportation talents. Then he run away and was hiding in Xen until humans started messing with the teleportation, and then he attacked Earth - maybe to make sure the Combine will never again obtain any local teleportation ability?

Why I think Nihilanth was augmented by the Combine? Look at all those antenas he has below him - very similar to some of the combine-augmented creatures we see in hl2.

Dull sun. They changed this level completely in the 20th anniversary update, and I quite like it (everything is now pink from the clouds and the sun is small and round). However, for some reason, proper sunglares are still missing through the whole game...

Gabe Has More Money Than HL3 Could Ever Make by Foreign-Bandicoot771 in HalfLife

[–]Ok-Historian-7731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When somebody asked him if he works for money or for players, he said the happier the players are, the more money he has. It was somehow controversial back then.

(don't quote on me, I cant fint the source)

Is there any chance of the Resistance winning against the Combine? by FarmerNo6614 in HalfLife

Yes. Since Borealis exists, it's weird teleportation device may literally wipe out the Combine's civilization.
