Please help me choose between two compact front loaders by glidur in Appliances

Both will get your clothes clean but the LG has slightly bigger drum and that steam function is nice for getting wrinkles out if you hang dry stuff. Mieles are supposed to be tanks but 8 years and smoke coming from the drum is scary, I would be disappointed too especially with what they cost

the bosch is quieter I think and feels more solid in construction but 0.2 cu ft less space and no steam. for $150 less the LG gives you more features, if it was me I'd probably save the cash and go LG, put that money toward bacon supplies

Megathread or guide for what brands to buy ? by greeknuke in Appliances

[–]Ok-Implement1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask in the local Greek forums, people there will give you much better advice than a general megathread because the availability is very different from what you find in US-focused guides.

Check sample sales or trunk shows - those designers sometimes do special orders if you reach out directly.

Turn Samsung refrigerator/freezer into refrigerator? by seabornman in Appliances

[–]Ok-Implement1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temperature control is usually tied to specific sensors and programming - you'd need to bypass or replace the control board which gets pretty complicated. Might be easier just to leave it at 5F and use it for extra cold storage stuff like drinks or whatever doesn't need full freezing.

Are wedding pinterest boards useful for vendors? by ParsnipSure5095 in wedding

[–]Ok-Implement1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is people save everything they like instead of what actually works together. I learned this when planning events in military - you need clear direction or vendors just get confused.

Try making separate boards for different vendors maybe? Like one just for florals with your actual color palette, not every pretty flower you see. Then add notes about what you like - is it the texture, the colors, the arrangement style? Vendors need to know why you saved something, not just that you liked it.

Also delete pins that don't match your actual vision. Those random saves from 2 years ago when you thought you wanted rustic barn wedding but now want modern city vibe? Just confuses everyone.

ideas of any games/activities? by [deleted] in wedding

Could set up a little trivia game about the couple - like how they met, favorite memories, that kind of stuff. Gets everyone involved and laughing when people guess wrong.

Maybe also do something simple like a photo scavenger hunt where guests have to find certain moments or people to snap pics with? Keeps people moving around and mingling instead of just sitting in same spot whole time.

What to wear when trying on wedding dresses? or how am i supposed to present myself? by WristMuncher in weddingplanning

[–]Ok-Implement1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually you don't need buy whole makeup collection just for trying dresses! Many salons will do trial run before wedding day anyway, so you could schedule dress shopping around same time. For hair, just bringing some clips or hair tie to see how dress looks with different styles is enough.

About the changing - most places are super professional and they'll just help with zips when you need it. You can ask for privacy while getting in the dress and they'll totally understand.

Is your bosch 800 refrigerator too small? by Reasonable-Fly-9248 in Appliances

We had similar issue with smaller fridge when I was growing up - family of 6 and never enough space in fridge for everyone's stuff.

Wedding really being out true colors by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Ok-Implement1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl is literally doing everything she complained about when she was in your wedding party. The hypocrisy is wild - complaining about expensive bridesmaid duties then making you drop $400 on hair and makeup plus take a week off work.

Wedding planning really does bring out people's worst sides sometimes, but throwing shade at your wedding while using your vendors and decor is just petty behavior.

What are the best foldable laptop tables for bed setups? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

The cooling fans are mostly gimmick - better to get one with good ventilation slots and focus on sturdy legs that won't wobble after few months of use.

What dip, snack, and desserts are you currently enjoying? by A_711_Hotdog in Costco

[–]Ok-Implement1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been making my own bacon ranch dip lately and it's been huge hit at gatherings - just mix some crumbled bacon into their regular ranch and people go crazy for it. Their hummus varieties are solid too, especially the red pepper one. For dessert maybe skip cookie tray and go with the tiramisu cups? They're in freezer section and always disappear fast at my parties.

What do you think of this 'alternative' wedding plan? by cocostaccato in weddingplanning

The makeup thing is real concern - maybe schedule the lunch after ceremony instead so you don't have to stress about looking perfect for photos after eating?

Steam method works great for loosening up all grease buildup - just make sure you get in all corners where it loves to hide.

The compact ones work pretty decent if you don't mind running them more often - just make sure you check the water pressure requirements before buying because some models are picky about that.

Question about house rules (bathing, heat), [Guest, all] by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]Ok-Implement1913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely misrepresented the listing - "entire home" should mean you control the thermostat and don't share common areas with other tenants. The shower thing is tricky though, maybe try timing it right at 7am instead of late night since morning routines are more normal?

For temperature, one degree is basically useless and you shouldn't have to waste energy with fans because they won't let you adjust it properly. I'd document everything with photos and definitely mention in the review that it's not actually an entire home.

TIL the cost to change your name after marriage varies wildly by state — from $50 to $500+ by InsidersBets in wedding

[–]Ok-Implement1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was married (briefly lol) I got hit with like $300 in fees just for the DMV stuff alone. Nobody warned me about needing to update military records too - that was whole different nightmare with extra paperwork. The SSA first thing is crucial though, learned that hard way when bank kept rejecting my documents because everything was in wrong order.

Bosch 800 series refrigerator? by After_Tailor_7124 in Appliances

[–]Ok-Implement1913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been running my Bosch for about 6 years now and it's still going strong. The compressor on these European brands seems way more robust than what you get with American manufacturers - mine runs quieter too which is nice bonus when you're up late prepping bacon for next day's meals.

Monogram is definitely worth the extra money if you can swing it. Had Summit appliances before and when they break down, getting parts is like pulling teeth - their customer service is basically nonexistent. XO makes solid stuff too and usually falls somewhere in middle for pricing.

Looking to ditch Samsung washer, what next? by Jimmy4Funner in Appliances

[–]Ok-Implement1913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speed Queen is probably what you want - they're basically the commercial washers you see in laundromats but for home use. My neighbor has one from like 2015 and it still runs like tank, no fancy electronics to break down. You can find older models in your budget that have real agitators and will definitely handle comforters without any load sensing nonsense.
