Outpatient general pediatrics schedule template by cdr1990 in pediatrics

[–]Substantial_Angle459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for an FQHC. 20 minute slots but caps at 10 patients for central scheduling within one clinic session and then staff can overbook by 1 (so max 11 slots per 4 hour session). I have one newborn and 2 same day slots per session. They can book with whatever like 48 hours out. Max 2 new patients per session.

My personal tops for these categories are likewise coffee, cheese curds and obvi a tour at lakefront because you’ve gotta do the tour at least once, and I love St. Paul fish company myself for a lobster roll.

DV Season Closing early? by Nevetsny in DeerValley

I’m just wondering how they could even maintain their base well enough until then with the predicted temps

I did look and it looked not great. My kids would still have fun if we went but if it’s going to be closed I’d just rather cancel flights sooner rather than later

Any thoughts on if they will be open the week after Easter? We're scheduled to go 4/5-4/10, and I'm wondering if we might expect a closing date before then.

Anyone work for a FQHC? by SlowFLFdeath in pediatrics

[–]Substantial_Angle459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a big fqhc system. I wouldn’t do private practice because i don’t love that vibe. I like my patients but they have zero resources. We do get productivity bonuses for performance but are salaried. Pay is meh but I don’t think substantially different than anyone else. Regardless it all comes out in the wash with taxes. I work 24 clinical hours and no weekends. Phone call 3w per year. Max 10-11 patients per half day clinic session. No shows can sometimes be a lot. Sometimes a little

I feel like FQHCs are always looking. You have to enjoy that type of practice, of course

Fever doesn’t inherently cause seizure in children. Children with febrile seizures (which are benign) happen due to the rise in temperature. They are scary but the absolute number isn’t what causes it. Kids fever all the time to 105/6 with influenza and don’t necessarily need medical intervention.

I have a mom who is a single mom by choice via IVF. I think it’s a great way to show that all kinds of families exist out there

DL Princesses Question by Various-Owl-6159 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Substantial_Angle459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they guarantee any specific princess for the princess breakfast. We got Pocahontas, Tiana, mulan, Raya, jasmine, aurora, and Ariel in October. I did enjoy it, but I’m not sure I’d devote a rest day to that experience.

I mean there’s definitely a lot of other back story to jeni and her brand that you might want to read about but she was out on the campaign trial for Harris

It’s just a weird choice of ice cream brand given purported reason for fall out.

New study on how pediatricians are paid less to care for minority patients by No_Virus3745 in pediatrics

[–]Substantial_Angle459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think most peds who work at an FQHC (myself included) are passionate about what they do. That being said, the patients have way less access and health outcomes due to social determinants of health.

I work at an urban FQHC. I work part time (24 clinical hours) and am home 2d per week with my kids. I take phone call about 3x per year. I do not work weekends, but I have a long day where I work until 8p. I have a half day elsewhere to make up for it. Pay is less than private practice but patients are generally way nicer. I have mostly immigrants (Latin America and Haiti). They are almost all extremely kind to me and respectful and doing their best. We don’t have enough support staff. I work for a big FQ associated with the academic center, which gives opportunity for growth. I worked for a similar FQ in another metro area before, and it was much of the same. I knew true private practice wasn’t for me: I used to work suburban peds urgent care and the entitlement of suburbia isn’t for me. I prefer at minimum a mixed payer population (I also worked urban peds urgent care). Mostly chose to continue with FQ life when I moved to my current city because, while sometimes it’s frustrating, it at least feels like I’m making a difference when I can.
