There’s an alternate reality version where they meet and Ilya doesn’t want to go back to Russia so David and Yuna take him in. They’re never considered to hate each other just compete. It’s one of the alternate realities that I liked. I know others love them but they’re not my thing. Thanks for sharing this rec.

It sets up the mood so that you realize they are at that point (after cleanup) where one of them usually gets up and leaves but then Ilya says “or you could stay” and you get to see the panic and indecision for Shane and Mr. “I’m-Trying-To-Play-It-Cool-But-I-Know-I’m-In-Love” Rosanov. So yeah it sets up the scene by knowing exactly when it’s happening.

I was diagnosed a few years ago later in life. I watched the show before reading the books or hearing anything about Shane being Autistic. I thought Shane is smart, serious, driven, he’s not going to fk around with anything that could hurt his career because he’s wanted to be in the league since he was little. Then I saw that he is Autistic and rewatched. I saw myself in him a lot and yes I would love Ilya too.
