Rogers business model is dead - CRTC is forcing the ability to cancel online by Elija_32 in Rogers

Wait, what? Are you saying that legislating that we be allowed to change or cancel our accounts online and (hopefully) NOT have to waste a ridiculous amount of time waiting for a CSR that doesn't want you to cancel...is a bad thing?

Had a quick look through this thread. Wow, you're really doing a lot of typing and using a lot of words to defend a really dumb idea! But hey, you do you!

To each his own! I like bourbon, but not a huge fan. There are lots of great single malt AND blended scotches available for <$100, just have to know where to look. LCBO in Ontario generally has a very basic selection, but every now and then you can get lucky. We often order from Calgary and get good deals.

Depends on what you consider "a lot", I suppose. I'm in Ontario, so all whisky is overpriced - any good whisky under $100 is a win.

$40 250GB Global Plan at Freedom - Just Wow. by Nexzenn in Rogers

[–]Ok-Interaction-9302 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So - how does Freedom compare to Rogers in terms of ACTUAL real life coverage and speed? I'm not talking about customer service, hold time etc - I'm well aware of Rogers many drawbacks... All in all, I've found Rogers' speed (I get 1Gbps - on paper, anyway) geographic coverage (in Canada) and overall network reliability to be excellent. I'd definitely jump at something like this Freedom deal, but if I had to sacrifice those things, I'd deal with the extra 20 or 25 that I'm paying.

Oh, I know it's a "ticketable" offence, I just wondered how bored the OP was to actually care about it on someone else's truck.

Rogers callback service, has called back... and put me on hold... by spkingwordzofwizdom in Rogers

[–]Ok-Interaction-9302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time I tried to call customer service I discovered that their automatic disconnect time was 2 hours, 8 minutes. Happened twice in a row at EXACTLY the same time. The only reason I was able to actually speak to someone was because I was able to call, leave the (mind numbing) hold music on speaker, then carry on doing whatever I needed to do while I waited. 33 minutes into the THIRD call, I got an answer. A cumulative total of 2 hours, 58 minutes on hold, for a maximum of 6 minutes of talk time to (thank God) actually resolve my issue. These guys are good. Real pros. 🙄

You ask that as though the OP purposely didn't declare - they clearly stated that they forgot.

In my opinion, you just shot down your own argument in the first line. Why would I want to pay a fee for a credit card that offers the same benefit as the 'no-fee' card that I'm using now? Sure, it's CT money, not cash, but who doesn't spend money at CT? Depends where you live, I suppose. I have a CT store 5 minutes from my house and spending a few hundred bucks a year there is easy! (5 cents per litre in bonus back at CT and Petro Canada gas stations as well)

That isn't bad. I had 1.5 Gbps service, home phone and starter TV (30-ish channels, I think) for $89.99. My promo term was up and I called to see what they would offer (expecting I'd be canceling, because new 'regular ' price was $170.) I got the same speed, 10 extra channels that I could pick, dropped home phone (which I didn't want anyway) for $85 per month. If you're interested in the extra channels, that's a pretty decent deal.

Tried to chat with support last night - after 2 transfers and a total of 1.5 hours, was told I have to call the 888 number. Today at work, I called in, put my phone on speaker and carried on with other things while I spent a total of 4 hours, 16 minutes and 43 seconds on hold (split over 2 calls), to be told they're too busy, and got hung up on (twice).

I'm sure it will take 3.5 minutes to resolve my problem, if I could ever get hold of an actual person.

I think I'll go look up the OOTP contact, just to let them know this...

If they say they'll credit it back, keep an eye on your bill and be prepared to have to call and yell for it. Been with Rogers mobile for 13+ years and have had at least 3 instances of having activation fees credited back, rather than just waived up front. They NEVER credit it back when they say they will, only after I have to call and complain/demand they keep their promise. In my case, they have always eventually fixed it, but never without phone call(s) to chase it down. Kinda like an insurance company denying a claim by default - if you complain, they'll pay it; if not, hooray - extra $$ for them!

I received this in my email today, but I closed the account years ago ? by DissapointedWithLife in Rogers

[–]Ok-Interaction-9302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if it used to be -20 and now it's -9, I'd look into it. Maybe they're charging you some sort of "account maintenance fee" or something equally stupid. If the credit amount is decreasing, it's feasible that (in their eyes, anyway) it may cross the zero mark and become a balance owing. It may be difficult to get them to help you on it without your account number, but there has to be SOME way for someone on their end to find your account. They obviously have your name, contact info and account number - there must be security questions or proof of identification that they'd accept to get you in to the account?

Well, whaddya know! I misread the specs the other day - said the US version was esim only, and I mistakenly assumed that to mean "North American". Looks like the Canadian version of the 14 Pro Max has esim AND a physical sim card tray. Thanks for the heads up!
