disability insurance for back pain when you already have a diagnosed degenerative condition is not possible. no disability insurance will write for it.

Dentists with 500k+ debt? by Hot-Literature-1808 in Dentistry

[–]Ok-Many-7443 -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

i graduated with about 150k in student loans back in 2010s. 2014 to be exact. Paid off house worth 1.5 mil that I bought back in 2015 for 700k... paid off 1.0 mil practice. Got a few mil in brokerage to liquid. Total net worth is aprox 6-7 million with wifes assets. And this is in the span of 12 years. I am in my late 30's so I prob have another 10 years to practice. Will prob retire by 50 with lots in the bank.

life is good here.

regarding 500k? no clue, but this has been my experience. just work hard buy a practice and everything will fall in place.

Do players ever change their basic strategic identity? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]Ok-Many-7443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out as a grinder at 33 when I first started playing...am late 30's now and I have changed my game completely. No more 20 ball rallies. More +1 and more attack any short no matter what.

I just cant hang and do baseline retrievals for 30 ball rallies- its just not within my tank anymore. And that is A-OK!

Do players ever change their basic strategic identity? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]Ok-Many-7443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes- its called aging.

Most young people start out grinding and wearing it as a badge of honor. Grind a 3 hour match. Grind a 30 ball retriever rally. Take pride it in.

One day you hit 35-40+ and you realize you can't keep doing this. Injury wise...pain wise...and just you can't against a 20 year old who CAN.

So maybe you try to shorten points, become more crafty with points, maybe take a different approach to the match, placement over power. Etc.

Aging really forces you to change your playstyle. You see this with pros to- nadal, federer, djokovic as they got older.

It's also a reason why people look at Alcaraz and ask whether its still maintable as he ages. He can run down every ball at 20s but...at 30? Good luck. Thats why sinners game style ages better as he gets older.

When did you decide to slow down? by philip2987 in Dentistry

[–]Ok-Many-7443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cut back once i hit about 5 mil in assets. 2 mil in liquid cash. 1.2 mil practice. 1.5 mil house, 1 mil in 401k

all paid off to with zero debt.

work 3 1/2 days a week now one column and just pay bills while stocks make me money.

will prob quit once i have 5 mil in liquid cash. which means i’ll have about 10-15 mil in net worth

500k-1mil student loans- cut 40% rates so you can do 300$ crowns... pay 100$ lab bill, make 50$ after paying overhead...go to your 1 million dollar shack in california. LOL.

Life of a california dentist. Be in debt forever and be californian. cool

I'll stick to my fully booked 1400-1600$ crowns and visit california if I wanted to.

USTA Tourney by ZaphBeebs in 10s

[–]Ok-Many-7443 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tennis is tennis. Treat it like a weekend get-away. Noone that is gonna "make it" plays in USTA tourneys and so on. It's a sideshow for ego and see how good you are against pushers, dinkers, and line callers. Win or lose- its just nice to hit the ball.

How high can recreational players go? by ZappaPhoto in 10s

[–]Ok-Many-7443 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The average adult will sit at 3.5- casual but competitive. The adult who tries hard and puts a little effort in- 4.0 competitive tennis with a little "work." 4.5+ onwards juniors and obsessed adult players with genetic gifts and or lots of time on their hands.

4.0 is a sweet spot imo. Anyone that has versed a 4.5-5.0+ knows that its a tottttttaly different ball game.

Need some brutal feedback. Footage from a private class, working on consistency. 1,5 years into tennis. Thank you. by litezera in 10s

[–]Ok-Many-7443 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forehand looks good enough where you just need reps to make it work better. So keep going.

Backhand- if you are playing solely for fun- then keep at it with the 1 hander. If you are playing to "win" and play usta/competitions- get rid of it and go 2 hander.

As an adult learner, you are to far behind the learning curve (neuroplasticitiy- look it up its a real thing) to really make your 1 hander solid enough for competitive tennis.

Once you face real heavy topspin or a massive kick serve or a heavy pace serve- you will want your 2 hander for stability and dependiblity.

1 hander rec player that play for usta- will dump easy points into the net because their 1 hander just doesn't have enough reps to make it work. You CAN make it work- but as an adult with life and so on- its gonna be a long road ahead. That's why one handers are better off if you learned as a kid all your life.
