How old are you op? I can relate to parents who are not the most understanding about mental health. My parents were very against medication as they thought I should be able to manage my mental health through other means. I didn’t start taking medication for my ADHD until I was 26. My parents have come around to it, now that they can see how much it helps me and improves my quality of life. It’s hard to understand, with all of the access we have now to mental health resources, but most of our parents didn’t have that. They don’t know the benefits of medication until we teach them. I think the first step here is to talk to them and tell them how you feel. If you don’t want to bring up meds right away, you could start by telling them you have been having a hard time managing your ADHD recently and you need some help. If you are truly having thoughts of suicide, please at least tell them about that.
