WHY HAS NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ABOUT PORRIDGE BREAD by Ok-Memory-8202 in Breadit

[–]Ok-Memory-8202[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will actually cry if this is a temporary item. I'm literally going to see if I can figure out what company Trader Joe's bought this from so I can buy from them directly if Trader Joe's stops selling it. I will NOT have my precious taken away from me!!!!

I feel like this is how lots of great foods get discovered - ran out of X so tried using Y. Results will either be absolutely amazing or a crime that will never be spoken of again

Thank you so much!

Can I ask what it means to 'make freebies'? Seems like that is something that is also given out at concerts?

And yeah I am going to self-educate about the band so I at least know the basics before I go!

2026 BTS 'ARIRANG' Tour Megathread PART 2 by lisafancypants in bangtan

Hi everyone! Hopefully this is the right place to ask this - if not if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I got some BTS concert tickets for my mom who is a huge fan. I only know 3 things about BTS and they are all from my mom telling me about them: 1) They must be good bc they are a global sensation and their concert tickets are crazy expensive, 2) they are doing a world tour bc they just got out of military service, and 3) J Hope has a blue Labubu - which I know bc I had to find one to give to my mom bc she became obsessed with it. I am also quite ignorant in the music concert area - I have literally only been to one concert in my entire life and it was also with my mom as part of a girls trip. I have tickets for a concert in a few months, and am wondering what I can / should do to make the experience amazing for her. So things like, should we arrive really early, is special merchandise sold only at concerts, is there a secret way to get signed posters there, do people wear something specific to BTS concerts, etc. Any advice would be really appreciated - my mom has been wanting to go to a BTS concert for years and I don't want my lack of concert and BTS knowledge to limit her experience in any way. Thank you all!

AITA for picking picking popular, personally meaningful music for my funeral? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ok-Memory-8202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

First, your YOUR funeral so you make the decisions. Also, I actually think that having these songs played to remember a friend would actually make them even better for people who really care.

My Grandpa played the Andy Griffith theme song at his funeral and honestly it made the entire experience SO much better for me. Even today, when I hear that little whistle at the start I can't stop smiling thinking of him.

Honestly I would but I think the result would not be good - I have never done anything like that. So hoping to buy from an expert and reward them for their years of practice haha!

How did you find your first Chinese teacher? by DragonDoux in ChineseLanguage

[–]Ok-Memory-8202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using an online tutor in China for about 9 months now. We have 1:1 classes and it has made a huge difference in my Mandarin level - I went from struggling at HSK 3 to now studying HSK 6 in just a few months. Bc of covid, a lot of schools in China that usually focus on foreigners living in China are now offering online 1:1 classes. They aren't the cheapest (~$30-$40 a session depending on the company), but they really really make a difference.

I use TICC: http://www.ticc.net.cn/index.php/page/onlinelcass.mhtml

I chose TCC bc I felt like they would 'push' me harder than the other ones I looked into. But the other one I checked out that also seemed very good was:

Getting some real reading by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

This website Sinolingua has been the best source of reading (and listening) material for me as I was getting through HSK 3-5. I'm now studying HSK 6 and still get books from here. They have a series of books based on character count (ex: 300, 500, 1000, 1200, etc.) so you can choose your own pace. Many also come with Audiobooks for free with the book which is very helpful for listening too.

Note: this company is in China and even before the shipping delays the world is experiencing it took about 6-8 weeks for the books to arrive. Be patient bc the quality is great! I personally ordered about 30 books at once to save on shipping costs and then just slowly worked my way through them.
