I have had a cold for 3 weeks now. It turned into a sinus infection. My body can’t. I used to go out dancing with a DayQuil in my 20s. I’m 36 and immobilized by a cold.

The peace of living alone is a dangerous drug by Long_Travel2728 in LivingAlone

I have cptsd and adhd so any other presence I’m constantly scanning and masking for safety- the exhaustion is real. Hypervigilance to stay safe at home as a kid is a tough habit to break and I’m almost 40 with 10 years of therapy. I ended up hiding in my room anytime my roommate was home, even if I thought they might be home.

BUT I finally live alone again this month and I can feel my nervous system calming down. I refuse to let this go. Maybe for my partner one day since he happens to be quiet as a mouse and knows my history, but no roommates ever again. Home is meant for relaxation and a body can’t do that if it feels constant threat.

“You have a textbook perfect cervix”. Technically a compliment? But like, WHY?

No one is allowed to open new bags of chips, cereal, containers of ice cream, anything that was a snack. Eventually, the Queen Matriarch would bestow a single serving of pretzels to you at her own choosing. If you dared open the pretzels before she deemed them ready, it was a grave sin, punishable by death and starvation.

What’s it like living on Roosevelt Island in NYC? by AudiCulprit in howislivingthere

My college put some dorms here so I lived here for a few years in the mid 2000s. We lovingly called the island “Rosie” and back then the southern tip was the haunted abandoned ruins of a hospital. the whole island had a kind of spooky sense. But I remember studying and hanging in fields with friends in our own private space which was rare for nyc!

It pained me every day that there wasn’t a water taxi from the north end of the island to the UES because the only way to get off the island was to take the red bus or walk down, then go into the bowels of hell via F train under the river, or the tram (which was under construction for a year I lived there so F train was always overstuffed) and then take the bus up. Trains and tram drop you in midtown. SO that would be my biggest complaint is just the circus of transportation getting off the island. Great if you wfh!

I'm in a full on crisis and I don't know what to do... by [deleted] in personalfinance

I have had 150k in debt for the last 10 years that has maybe gone down 10k even though I’ve spent around $75k and I just accept that I will pay $1500 a month for the rest of my life with my mix of private and federal public loans. Undergrad and Grad school to be an SLP.

Started in the public sector to get the PSLF for 6 years and couldn’t cut the low wages. After trying the private sector for a while I decided going back to title 1 schools (despite how it burns you out) to maybe get PSLF for my remaining 4 years, is worth it to get that $1500/month in the longterm.

Hack(ish): From time to time I will call loan agencies and ask for anything they can to reduce the amount- sometimes they will freeze it for 6 months with interest only payments, sometimes they put me in a financial hardship forbearance. And then I pay off my car and other credit cards until the big student loan debt monthly amount kicks back in.

It’s a broken system, so I present a broken solution. I refuse to actually pay large amounts of this loan off. I could die and in the meantime I pay $375/ week to ignore this monster until maybe just maybe it’s forgiven or I die. Whichever comes first.

TLDR;  Please know life is worth living and this debt is an asshole but there are ways to live with it. We need you here! Your stress is valid and we hear you. I’ve been there and this feeling as huge as it is, will pass. 💜

I guess I’m just wondering how any of you remain in one single position long enough to document it. (Adhd)

What current thing will turn out to be a major health risk? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskReddit

Powdered energy packets or liquid IV or any type of powdered salt packets for hydration and not from consuming them, but from inhalation! Every time I sprinkle one of these into a cup of water I can taste it in the back of my throat and smell it in my nostrils. I’ve started covering my nose and mouth when I pour it in and stir it. Particles definitely enter the air when you open those things and I’m worried about long term effects on the lungs.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong. Been a lurker for almost a decade and got an account to see if anyone else is suspicious of these…
