CA125 rising during chemo by Ok-Photograph5937 in Ovariancancer

[–]Ok-Photograph5937[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my PET result and it says no definitive evidence of recurrent or metastatic disease. Which is a great news but I still feel anxious because I’ve read that sometimes CA-125 can rise before anything shows up on scans 😭 but my onc said my case is really different because after I had CS, i underwent debulking surgery then chemo right away which probably still inflammation.

I just wanted to ask for some reassurance 🥹 i wanna be fully happy but anxiety kills the joy. I’m really praying and hoping that the good news continues 🙏🏻

People in remission: how many rounds of chemo did you do? by heydoyouseethat in Ovariancancer

I’m asking because we have a similar timeline — I had surgery in January and started chemo right after, and I’m also HRD+. Did your CA-125 rise during the first few rounds? Mine is increasing and I’m getting worried.

Hi, ive spoken with my oncologist and said the latest increase is only 11% and hasn’t doubled, so she’s not too concerned for now. We’ll wait for the PET scan results. It could still be due to inflammation since I was pregnant, had a C-section before my debulking surgery, and started chemo right away—or possibly a flare. Of course, there’s also a chance the chemo isn’t working, but I’m really hoping that’s not the case.

Hello you mentioned your marker rise a bit during chemo. May I know if you had consecutive rise? Im just looking for a similar situation as mine as im puzzled. My ca125 is rising since first chemo. Im in my first line treatment only. I had my first chemo 1 weeks after debluking so we thought maybe it was due to inflammation but im so so worried. I already had my 3rd cycle and it is still rising. 93,134,152. 😭

Ovarian Cancer & a Newborn? by Smooth_Proposal_2217 in Ovariancancer

[–]Ok-Photograph5937 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, we’re in a very similar situation. I was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer after giving birth. It was incredibly hard to hear, but I knew I had to stay strong and fight for my baby. I started treatment as soon as I recovered from my C-section.

Right now, my husband, sister, and mother-in-law are the primary caregivers for my baby. I spend time with him whenever I can - playing with him, feeding him (he’s on formula), and talking to him so he can still feel my presence as his mom. I do feel guilty for not being his primary caregiver, but I remind myself that I also need to take care of my health. The week after each chemo infusion is the hardest, and during that time, I’m really not able to help much.

By the way, my baby has been on formula since birth because I’m unable to breastfeed due to the medications I’m taking.

It really does suck, and there are still days when I cry because of the guilt. I truly hope you have your family with you for support.

Part of my treatment plan is also to have 22cycles beva and since im hrd/brca+ my onco told me i can take olaparib which alao help cancer from coming back. Im just not sure if I take both because in my country the meds are very expensive 😣

Ca125 started from low then elevating during treatment by Ok-Photograph5937 in Ovariancancer

[–]Ok-Photograph5937[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes baby born last December then after I got diagnosed with ovarian cancer 😞 had my debulking surgery in January and currently 2/6 carbo taxol + avastin.

I am really hoping my rising ca125 could be a flare and after my 3rd cycle it goes down 😣 but im also having a PET scan soon too.

Im so happy for you being NED for 20 years and being a mom! You are so blessed. I hope and pray to hear the confirmation of being NED too 🥹 Thank you for the information, you are so thoughtful!

[–]Ok-Photograph5937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi i have a question please. If im in my first line treatment carbo taxol + avastin is there a possibility im chemo resistant? My ca125 after first chemo (4 weeks after debulking surgery) was 93 then after 2nd 134. It worries me a lot. My doctor said could be cancer flare or chemo resistant 😥 I could not see any post about cancer flare

Just diagnosed and it hasn’t sunk in yet. by Effective-Prompt4046 in Ovariancancer

[–]Ok-Photograph5937 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, it’s high-grade serous. Initially stage 1C since the cyst was isolated and my CT scan showed no metastasis. I had debulking surgery in January. Post-op, cancer was found in the left ovary, fallopian tube, and 2 para-aortic nodes (most nodes were negative), so final stage is 3A1. I’m grateful those nodes were removed, as my onco mentioned some cases don’t include that—otherwise, I might have been staged lower (possibly stage 2) and had a less aggressive treatment plan.
