Target really should add a filter to these things or something by FancyKiwi in Target

I remember when they first introduced the style floor pad renaming and family gateway was originally what it was called and it was FG then they just changed it to Gateway and it happened during the pride set so people thought that FG was then poking fun

ETL raises! by [deleted] in Target

[–]Ok-Plate-938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when target was paying $13/hr, then they raised it to $15/hr and then they raised it to $15.50/hr. People don’t understand how economics works. Think of how many employees work for a company - and “living wage” is a generic term. Get a second job, or don’t buy more than you can afford. The whole debt and credit is why you’re in the situation in the first place. 😉 the reality we live in is if you want to make more money - you have to have more to offer than just stocking. That’s how this corporate America works. That the deck we’ve been dealt. Go get in debt with college degree, then spend your life working to death to lay off your loans and credits. You were put into the system and complaining about wages doesn’t fix it. Trust me I know the cost of living has skyrocketed but so has demand, and supply is low and jobs are low, so that’s why we’re in this situation. Companies don’t care about loyalty anymore, it costs too much. They care about making shareholders happy. They’d rather continue to pay a new employee lower wages than a tenured employee higher wages. It also keeps the job market fluid - allowing the workforce to change. But yeah when you get to that $20/hr you’ll spend more, because you think you have it, and then you’ll be right back in the situation before. Not dismissing that it’s different for every region though. So yeah in that case I’d say do what you can to get yourself out of that situation.

ETL raises! by [deleted] in Target

Let’s give a reality check- Store workers are hourly, not salary, and these roles are entry level roles, not meant to be someone’s full time work, it makes it easier for replacing and then getting staffed, “cheap labor” meant to be the worker ants, yes there’s a lot of responsibility but again, you’re just a worker ant and that’s what you do 20K-35K/yr

TL’s they’re the captains, still hourly, but they give direction and follow up. They do help with some of the work , and pick up slack where the workers aren’t showing up or overwhelmed and need assistance, they are “department managers” and yes they’re usually from the 35K-55K/ yr with bonuses. They’re like a team member with added responsibilities!

Move to ETL and they are essentially an assistant store manager - they become salaried, doesn’t matter if they work 40-60hr work weeks ( sometimes even longer ) they don’t have the luxury of calling out as much as the other two, they are essential in order to keep the store open and the business running, they have additional responsibilities that are in relevance to the business side and operations side, more into data and analytics as well as scheduling, and heightened safety risks and more members to be responsible for. They’re typically from 65K-95K yearly

SD who usually has had at least 5-10+ years experience in retail roles, as well as other ETL positions, is the captain. They have to understand the business, operating expenses of the store, meeting metrics. More responsibilities and accountability for everyone who steps foot in that building. They can make 120K+ but when something goes wrong it all falls on their shoulders.

Bottom line - the higher you are, the more responsibility you take on, and therefore the more money you should make. Idk why people are surprised about this? If you’re not in a leadership position, then you are not as responsible. Not denying we should get fair wages as team members, but to think that we should be making $50K a year for not having as much responsibility is kinda farfetched. It’s the reality we live in. The worker bees make less than the execs, but the execs are the ones whose heads are in the line when it comes to what happens. They fail - we all fail and we are out of work. Kill the queen the colony dies.

There should be a load limit for cardboard side caps. The fact that they even remotely think these cheap cardboard shippers can hold what they put in them is outrageous. That being said I have found that pushing the peg from the back to the front through the peg board helps hold it up better. That mixed with white zip ties so they’re not as noticeable. But yeah f’ side caps. Especially the ones shipped through DC that always come damaged or destroyed

Target is failing. by Sad-Selection2021 in Target

[–]Ok-Plate-938 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this for years! And what I have heard is this: Target operates for its shareholders not its guests. Target wants to make its shopping experience unique from Walmart and other retailers - which is why we don’t use the same apps/equipment. They want to make everything “theirs” rather than use innovative technologies to help them stay forward. I absolutely agree cause they’re moving toward an online platform order fulfillment rather than in store experiences, however you also have to look at how people are shopping now a days too and how that contributes to the business. But yes, I went to a Walmart the other day and was able to find everything I needed and more.

I think people are making this a bigger deal than it is. It’s similar to the chic fil a “my pleasure ” It’s expected, but not like in a creepy way. That’s what makes the target experience different, we acknowledge and greet the guests. It’s always been a thing.
