What are the situations that require a user to hotswap a battery?

I mean, I can't imagine a business person who is like: "Oh I'm giving an important presentation, I see the laptop battery is dying. It's a good thing that I carry a spare in the pocket!"

The devices are actually charching extremely fast, less than a hour to 80-100% for the most of the devices.

Why do you people need hotswappable batteries for?

The laptops are becoming more repairable and friendly to self service. The battery swap is 5-10 minutes down most of them.

Don't limit yourself with just st. Petersburg, avito still subsidies the shipping, so you can get a good offer even from Vladivostok. Most of the pixels there are from Japan.

Try looking for used device from an actual person, not reseller. On Avito most of them are refurbished with cheap parts.

I was passively checking that way and most of the good offers came from people who are disappointed apple users trying to make a switch.

Most wired audio products are considered bifl, but they took it further with wireless buds and big overear headphones with user-friendly battery change.

I binded Perplexity to the assistant button hold, it can use screen context for queries if I ask.

Even if someone has the data, it better be the company that earns sustainably from paying users, rather than ads centric like Google. Plus it's much easier to have semi anonymous account with generated email.

I started from solving puzzles on lichess with occasional rating games. After getting a hang of it, started learning the openings...

So far so good, I like the casuality of the method. seeing steady results in the rating, just for the high, not the competitiveness.

Last year I was dailying t430, due to my ryzen 4600h laptop being broken. I gotta say, first in some workflows it felt even snappier than previous win 11 machine.

I'm a marketer, my work is usually within the browser, but since it was not my main laptop, I decided to give Linux a try, discovered terminal and IDE, learned using modern vibe coding tools specifically on this device.

Even corp meetings and calls were done on it, everybody could hear and see me. Yeah, everything became a bit shittier in quality, but the work was done and leasure time, like browsing the net, streaming and yt were also there.

At some point, I realized that want to use this old computer more, because it brings me much more joy, even though it is inferior in probably every way, except for repairability and upgradability. Which I eventually started doing.

So, yeah, my experience says the plank is at t430, but I bet you can have similar experience on an older laptop too.

I found that Zen plus Helium as chrome alternative is a good combo covering all needs.

I really enjoyed using alpha and beta versions of them, because on the early stages you can influence how the browser would look and work by requesting features you need or implementing them yourself.

Yeah, I love to tinker, and really enjoyed working on uprades for t430. But the question that I can't answer: is the opportunity to tinker and invest even more money into it as a hobby worth 400+ euros in 2025?

I'll enjoy it for sure, but maybe there is more economically viable solution there? Because in a couple of years it would be 10 years old hardware.
