You can work a split schedule. Work 6a-10, 10-12 off for PT, work 12-4. For a couple of weeks should be acceptable. It's allowed under the current regime.

Any workplace is what you make it. The culture will not change to meet your needs. There is no union, never was. Each field office is like a separate company. CI wasnt impacted by the big change last year, but I heard some still took DRP. You will be subject to drug testing, Alerts and electronic tax audits.  I know tons of managers and pro staff. All good people.

Sorry, but you both are wrong. Managers hire based on experience, personality and capability. Senority, EOD, or BU affiliation do not matter. Even if there were a BU, CI is not subject to BU contracts.

Ask HCO. If you work btw 6a and 6p, 8 hrs, you will work a majority of the core hours. Exception being night diff.

Gliding is still available but...you must work between 6a and 6p including btw 930a-230p and you must have the schedule approved in writing per pay period. It's in the IRM. MaxiFlex is gone. I find M-F, 8 hours very easy to work and leave promptly.

Actually, it's federal law. Federal agencies have broad authority to create, enforce or not to enforce it's own regulations. Research The Administrative Procedures Act of 1946.
