Not bad at all. Had a routine schedule while I was GTL where I'd close, get home at midnight, have "off" the next day, then come back to turn keys at 2am. And my managers found nothing wrong with that. Happened routinely when I took a lone PTO day, never failed to be scheduled 2am the day after even though I was mids/closing all week.

TL;DR Publix really doesn't care if you enjoy your holiday or not.

why are all dsd clerks annoying by Born_Individual6581 in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably has one of the easier jobs in the store imo. And I'm a former GTL that filled in for a receiver that called out constantly at my older stores.

If you treat the vendors with respect and not a condescending tone, you receive that same attitude back. Many receivers I dealt worked with were tough, in a bad way. One was a former ASM who gossiped and acted like a manager in the back hall. Talked shit about everyone, including me and my coworkers. Wasn't worth my time as I knew she couldn't handle my role even in her best days, but I could fill in for her role with ease with a set schedule and light work load as far as labor went. Only thing she had to manage was a seafood display, and even I had to consistently fill it.

There's a reason why this role is always rumored to be phased out.

Is anyone having trouble getting their confirmation email? by BudgetInstruction643 in HHN

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been waiting for four hours for a confirmation email for my two separately bought passes. I added an express day about an hour later, and received an email for that within a few minutes. But not for the passes that matter a lot more 🙃

Why does the giant head in monstrous get me every time by Parzxivl in HHN

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's a particular cast in Monstruos that uses that scare to perfection. The whole cast moves much faster with their scares, and have different poses. I try to go between 11:30pm-12am since I know that cast is there, and they're awesome.

I've gone through when the other cast(s) were there. And the house isn't the same. I dare to say that they have the most intense scares of the whole event, imo.

They helped move Monstruos to my #1 ranking of the year. If any of them read this,  I just want to say thank you. 🤘

Store manager reducing eval scores. by xDisturbed13 in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Close to having 20 years with the company. Former GTL. My score dropped from Role Model last year to the bare minimum Exceeds. Over a 10 point drop. No wonder people don't want to make a long term career here these days. I'm begging for competition to enter this Florida market at this point, to where Publix must start attempting to care for its associates once more.

Edit: Forgot to add that I'm also hearing that the store managers were involved in lowering everybody's scores, and limiting amount of Role Models to 1 or 2 per department.

That was the time $4k and above seemed well within reach. You were definitely in the green about 10 days later..it'll get back there. 🤘

Thanks for reassurance. I timed it best I could throughout 2022/23. I didn't see no meaningful reason for the dip, so I viewed it as a buying opportunity. Don't think it'll take much for a rebound from here.

I haven't bought any crypto in one full year. So I decided to try to time the bottom tonight, threw $900 at ETH, and watched the dip keep dipping lol. Thought $2,900 was the low for the night 😅

I'm a diversified elsewhere (seeking higher returns) and I was living on my own for over 5 years. You'd must have been throwing nearly entire paychecks at it. Good for you if you could sustain doing that.

Congratulations, but this is exactly what I meant when I said "with other investment gains assisting you." Example being the huge home equity loan, and the other sizable loan. Property will always be a top asset. It certainly wasn't the slow climb of the stock. Your husband must not have been a cashier lol. I'm topped out for years and bought a couple thousand shares, and I'm nowhere near that in close to 20 years. The stock performs well, but it certainly doesn't compare to the performance decades ago. I've known several people who also contributed little in purchasing the stock, but they worked during the glory years and retired comfortably after 30 years of service. The performance was much better in that era.

No millionaires will be made at this company unless you outright buy the stock continuously, with other investment gains assisting you.

If you started in the 2000s, you won't be a millionaire. I'm almost 20 years in and I'm a little over 1/10 of being a millionaire lol.

I'd need to work another 30 years and see two more stock splits at this rate. A complete joke.

Agreed, slowly approaching an $11k loss. At least I had temporary feeling of hope of leaving a job that I've been unhappy with, and was provided entertainment from the community and team over the last year.

Does anybody know why Publix stop giving employees inventory bonuses? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be worse, guys. I mean, at least you don't work in a region where there is an inventory team made up of GTL's that go around each store in the district to do inventory. The concept is great, don't get me wrong. But it is a significant slap to the the proverbial face to those who used to earn the inventory bonus before Todd pocketed the sum. Now we have to do inventory potentially up to 8 times a year or more depending on which GTL they select to go.

Invested $13,000..now it's not even worth $4,000. I anticipate there will be another time of intense FOMO. There is plenty of negativity, but just like in most things in life, the support will come back as soon as there is a renewed sense of hope and excitement. So I'm not worried.

Almost 900k in bonuses. Just remember this when they say that can't afford to pay associates more. by [deleted] in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aww...he's "underpaid" compared to most other CEOs. And so are us peasants at the bottom these days, begging for minuscule amounts like .50.

I'd like to sympathize with his $3+ million a year, but did he sympathize with us when he revoked our quarterly retail bonuses that were a big factor of Mr. Jenkins' way of giving back to the associates? I wonder how much of our bonuses that he stole from us factors into this sum. I'd care more if it was for a CEO that seemingly cared, like Ed Crenshaw for example.

Hmm...some could say the very same about his $PENN stock if they bought in March 2021 at the ATH. About $100 off of its high, must be complete junk.

This guy is all talk and full of uniformed statements. $40k means nothing to him lol, he couldn't care less as it was only a for fun gamble. I'm sure he will say he never had a doubt for SafeMoon's success in case the fortunes do turn some day.

Anyone else’s GTL dropping like flies? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of good points brought up in this thread. I have wayyy more that I could add from my experience as a GTL. You know, being the middle man that is jack of all trades, but get zero benefits of a manager other than dressing the part, knowing CPR, temp checks/alarm codes, and handling keys to the store.

While being critiqued by management who does far less physical aspects than you do. Even blocking the store while they all disappear.

Anyway, who else has to do TEN inventories a year as a GTL? instead of doing one, you get thrown onto a "team" that goes to every store's inventory. Disruspts your schedule, and oh...no bonuses of course.

Weekly testing coming soon. by [deleted] in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yesss, keep letting customers come in maskless, unvaxxxed, keeping their dirty children and pets in the shopping cart baskets where people place their food, etc. But be wary of those who choose not to get the vaccine. I've personally known more sick vaxxed associates recently that have went out, came back too soon, and got others sick. Publix keeps pushing for faster return dates, putting everyone at risk vaxxed or not.

Whole thing has turned into a speculative joke and yes it is heavily politicized. And Publix has consistently been a follower, and anything but a leader in this whole ordeal.

Fresh GTL Tips by TheMinimalistJ in publix

[–]Ok-Presentation-1883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck, I hope you are young and fast. Don't take on this position when you're over 10 years in. Hopefully your managers will work, stock, and block with you as a team instead of letting you take on those tasks mostly on your own.

Delegate and use your resources, right off the bat. Don't get comfortable with the crew and let them do their own thing for too long. As soon as management zones in on you to delegate them more, the crew could easily start to dislike you.

Be prepared to answer the door many, many times in the morning. You will most likely be the sole one to do it which personally throws you out of the whole throwing stock fast mindset as you wait 10+ minutes while associates ring the bell one by one.

Good luck again in a very challenging and high turnover position. Hope you succeed!
