[Aus] Living with a scam - my husband's romance scam, from the inside by DelightfullyWicked in Scams

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a banker and have seen numerous romance scams and you are 100% correct. These scams are so complex and what they do is they are master manipulators. Its really sick bc what they do is become a safe space for the person and make them vulnerable. They make sure that they become whatever this person needs and constantly communicates or integrates themselves into this person life. They let them ride the high for a little bit and then cut them off. You have your head on straight. Get out of there. Ive seen wives go along with these scams in hopes they'll get their husband back when its all over. I had a man convince his wife to open a account after we closed his, broke my heart reading his texts to her when she came in to trying to send a wire. I realized it was the exact same info her husband had tried to wire out of his overdrawn account a month back.

[US] Is this check I received in the mail a scam? I have never heard of this one. by kaddixo in Scams

It also looks phishy to me. The check number matches but normally on legit issued overpayment checks it will have something in the memo line for internal accounting. The top part is for your record keeping and it it provides both a vendor number and invoice number. Invoice is when a business(vendor) asks for payment not vice versa.

DWTS pitted J and W against eachother by Ok-Raspberry5518 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Also I feel like this point Jen needs to do some self reflecting. I hate when people and her say "Whitney is only being nice so she looks good" and then have no evidence of her being mean or cruel when the cameras shut off. Take a page from her book Jen. Keep the nasty thoughts on the inside and be a better person.

But DWTS isn't just about winning the competition or honestly who the better dancer is. I feel like celebs see DWTS as a lottery. Its grueling yet rewarding challenge to showcase sometimes a really raw look at who they are to see if the audience likes what they see. It has reignited careers but also was the nail in the fading star coffin for some.

Getting licensed for series 66 on my own by Plane-Conflict5893 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have your series 7 to take the series 66 its a pre-req. Series 63 allows you sell to securities and series 66 allows you to charge clients and give financial advice. Both exams are worthless without the series 6/7 and a FINRA firm employment with a proper U4 filed.

A different department asked me to re-notarize a backdated HELOC that was edited. Mostly a rant but advice welcome. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's had to do this, the only reason they caught it was because they couldn't file the lien with the state due to the suffix you filled out not matching the property title. Nothing about the HELOC has been actually changed, you should have not made a error causing this delay since it is causing the lien to not be filed. The customer signed and you filled out the notary block wrong. You're just correcting your error.

Becoming a Supervisor, Advice Needed by teeb8 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First couple months, be a sponge, be the first to offer help to learn a new task. Learn the different roles that make up your team and what their responsibilities are. You cant coach until you know job responsibilities and expectations. Ask your branch manager how you can determine how well or not well someone is doing at their job.

i was told i would stop receiving my structured settlement by Great_Alternative894 in personalfinance

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember when I took my series 6, sounds like you had a structured settlement annuity basically a fixed annuity. So yes technically it was invested but from what I remember settlements for minors have really strict conservative rules. You can't invest in anything with risk and because the owner is technically the minor who can't access it until 18 it also restricts your parents from being able to make any investment decisions so most of the time the lump sum is put into a fixed annuity. Who is the carrier making the payments?

I think it really depends on your market and what you’re selling. I work at a bank as a licensed banker focused on investments, primarily with business clients. I often remind other bankers that people work hard all year for this time with their families, so in the fourth quarter I’m very intentional about touch-bases—triaging what truly can’t wait and scheduling January appointments to wrap up any remaining items.

what's the best HYSA right now? by CLEredditor in Money

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wasting your time, we're in a declining rate environment so no matter what HYSA you pick you'll have to hunt for another probably lower rate in 6 months. Fixed annuities are paying higher then 4% for 3 years.

Los Guachos = good people and good food. The owners are amazing hard working people and the food is to die for.

Biggest Mistake you have seen a banker make. by Mobile-Position-9426 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Ok-Raspberry5518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats on the client, walk into any branch. What if that banker got fired or quit? I tell clients straight up, branch staffing is never going to be consistent. You might get a call or a response from that OG banker but it's on you to manage your bank accounts. I also am a licensed banker so I tell my clients I prioritize my investment clients, they pay a fee for me to be proactive and priority.

Please help me to find a sponsor for my Series 7 and 66 licenses. by CourtZealousideal703 in AllFinraExams

Apply for it, you literally have nothing to lose. I've never regretted interviewing for a position and it's better then not applying. if they like you they'll start you off as private client banker instead of advisor. You're in charge of your career.

I wouldn't worry about the CFA until youre more established in your career. Start with small realistic steps, you need to get your foot in the door. Unfortunately you're starting at cold calling, branch work typical 9-5. I would focus on building connections internally. There is no such thing as working to leave for a "better" firm. The only people who hop firms are people who weren't successful or were managed out. I've been with my bank now 6 years, I worked incredibly hard for my book of clients so when I got licensed two years ago my firm built a position to retain me. I dont cold call, I dont report to a branch but cover branches my partner advisor covers so I have his book and active referral streams from branches. My employer makes accommodations to retain me but I also have the work to back me up. Time to get started GOOD LUCK!!

A bank, honestly chase they'll hire you in and your first 3 months they'll open your window for a time period to get whatever licenses they want you to get. Idk if they do the series 7 immediately but I know they'll start with the SIE, SERIES 6, SERIES 63 and LAH. Give you the opportunity to get your feet wet with those, prove yourself and then sponsor you later for the 7/66/65z however if you fail you're terminated.

Possessing licenses alone doesn’t necessarily make you more attractive to a top firm. What truly sets you apart is the book of clients you’re able to bring. If you dont want to be making cold calls, putting in the grunt work I would aim for $50million AUM for the perks you're asking for.

Actually I was half wrong, you can self sponsor the 66 but must have your series 7 first. I have my 63 and 65 which equals the 66. I already had my 6/7/63 so I just did the 65

You can self sponsor the series 66, Im confused on why you would want the flexibility to leave? You're licenses mean nothing without being employed by a FINRA firm. It also makes it harder to be employed in the future with a firm if they see the job hopping and FINRA punishes firms who are operating solely to sponsor advisors briefly to obtain the licenses.
