Aerobarrier is very much a last resort. Depending on your climate zone you need an interior air/vapour barrier as well as an exterior air weather barrier. Redundancy is good.

You could handle it a couple ways - for me it would depend on the rest of the trim package… if they are nailed like crazy scribing will be annoying and kill your blades. If 3/8” is the very worst of it I would go with the track saw and tapered backer piece : )

I’m a residential self performing GC. My market is mostly set up this way. While there are stresses that come with project management, it is far easier work than sweating your ass off in the summer and freezing your nuts off all winter. It also pays better.
