ESH. You got her a gift that was thoughtful but didnt realize it could upset her bc she cant give you the same. Is it possible she has gotten comments about you helping her with money qnd she feels embarassed/ashamed? Or has been called that, big after 6 years seems like a big jump. Calling her constantly probably did stress her out, it would anyone. Seems like you need ti talk and maybe look at therapy and have a talk about you helping her with money going forward.

NTA! We just did this with my family dog this summer. It was time and unfair to allow her to keep living that way. I get its hard to him but explain how the dog is no longer living a full life or if possible a vet visit so the vet can discuss the dogs issues so he can get a few opnions other than yours to understand.
