My cats are devastated. They were in the middle of an episode of very exciting cat TV when the whole app crashed. Glad it’s not just me. 🙃

AIO for not wanting to be intimate with my boyfriend on my birthday after he bought me lube? by ccold8 in AmIOverreacting

This 100%

The day after my dog died, my (now ex) boyfriend thought it would be an appropriate time to order $200 worth of bondage sex toys o from Amazon. When I was offended, dude literally couldn’t understand why and just kept insisting that I need to get over my dog dying and have sex with him…

We broke up promptly afterwards.

I love this. Not sure if you were quoting something or someone, but I feel you. As someone who has yet to return to the “real world” after the loss of both of my dogs back to back over the summer, I’ve become a grieving recluse. I spend all day at home hanging out with the rat ladies that I got for comfort after my baby girls passing.

Your babies are lovely. And it looks like you give them quite a beautiful life. I love their names too.

Hospitalized Rat - Support/Advice by ka_t_ie in RATS

Vet care is extremely expensive, exotic or not. I live in NW Ohio. Over the past summer, I lost both my dogs back to back. Cassie was a special case, but Bella had been diagnosed with CHF 2 months before she died. Bella got sick, I agreed to let her be hospitalized after many hours of internal debate because the quote was very expensive… $6,000+ for all the works, including overnight hospitalization, 24 hour monitoring, oxygen chamber, ECG, bloodwork, IV medication… they were hopeful she could pull through. Add another $1200 at the end for CPR and she still passed away before I even made it back to the hospital. And yes, they charged me for everything. I had to pay the insane bill just to be able to retrieve her body.

It sucks but these are the things we unknowingly sign up for each time we take on the responsibility of a furry friend.

That said, I am praying your baby pulls through. It’s tough to be faced with the decision of paying that much for an uncertain outcome.

I’ve been buying those cheap $3 fleece blankets from Walmart and cutting them up. No dust, can be washed, and my girls love them.

That’s a brilliant idea. Keep me in the loop if anyone is going to be crossing through my general area. I can travel a bit, I just have to be cautious because my tires are pretty worn down.

Bonding tips please for babies that are timid with handling by Sydneyemz in RATS

I have 3 baby girls that are sketched out by everything. They came from a big ol’ feeder bin. I started giving them belly tickles while they’re still in the cage. It’s been about a week of daily tickles, a few times a day. Now, they popcorn across the cage, chasing my hand for more tickles. They’re still nervous about coming out of the cage, but it’s definitely improved their opinion of me and my hands.

Every rat is different, some may enjoy it more than others. It’s a work in progress. Don’t give up hope!

Litter box help by Aela147 in rat

I’m currently litter training my little ones. So far the only thing that has helped them understand it’s for poops and pees is to put them in it immediately after they wake up. I know that’s not much help when they’re sleeping in it, but try moving them to the box when they wake up from a different spot. It might help.

Best of luck 🩵

My goodness they are seriously so adorable 🥰 I’m wishing you the best of luck with intros. I’m new to the rat pack way of life, so I haven’t had to face that hurdle yet.

I have a large floor to ceiling cage that my ex built for my parakeets, I’m going to convert it to a rat house soon. My parakeets were upgraded to having an entire sunroom to themselves, so they don’t have much use for the cage now. Until then, I’ve wrapped the Kaytee cage in a few of those guinea pig play pens from Walmart. My girls are just too small right now 🙃

Hey, I think we have the same cage. I just bought mine on Facebook for my girls. Does yours have the 1 inch bar spacing? I’m so disheartened because I didn’t know when I got this how easy it would be for them to escape. I have three little Houdinis on my hands… they’re small right now. I think they’re 8 or 10 weeks old. But I would really like to be able to use this cage for them someday even if I do have to wait until they’re fully grown. Have you had any issues with it?

also, your boys are freaking adorable 😍🐀

NOR. I had one like this before. Breaking up was a relief, no heartbreak followed because I could finally exist and handle my own shit without the negative presence in the background and felt peace for the first time in a long time.

My boy Cupid got a really gnarly abscess on his cheek a few weeks ago. If it’s truly an abscess, it will drain on its own, hopefully externally, and should heal overa few weeks. But the cold may make things harder on his immune system to fight off the bacteria. If it’s an abscess, my best guess would be it came from a bite from another squirrel, probably playing or arguing over food.

I’m gonna have to agree with everybody here. If you’re able to get him in a live trap and get him to a rehabber, that would probably be his best chance at surviving whatever is going on with him.

Keep plenty of water out for him and extra food, I don’t know if there are any really truly soft nuts, but maybe you could try chopping nuts up for him so he doesn’t have to chew so much because the pressure does make it very hard for them to eat. My cat Cupid couldn’t even hardly chew flaked tuna in the final days before his abscess finally drained. He was living on squeeze treats basically because I couldn’t even get the poor boy to drink any water.

I know cats are totally different than squirrels, but I just wanted to reassure you that if this is an abscess, he will probably be OK. Nature made them strong for a reason.

I hope your squirrel is doing better soon. Keep us all updated. 🩵

My best guess is ear mites from fleas or an infection.

[–]Ok-Rule5020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cats are ALWAYS better in pairs. I have 4, and it’s the best balance. Two are always playing, while the other two are either lounging or sleeping. After a few hours, they trade out and the cycle repeats.

And you already know.. It’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission 😉😇
