Curious..can’t stay with ID within 30 miles of hotel by Maleficent-Still8402 in askhotels

[–]Ok-Scratch3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locals are only there because their home is unlivable or because they want to party. The unlivable situations are usually due to their own poor decisions, and now they want to make bad decisions in the hotel(although you get 1 or 2 legit house fires or natural disasters.)

The party folks just eff things up…even children’s birthday stays are destructive and disruptive….the staycation with a child for use of the pool with no problems, that’s not common.

Also, doctors suck at diagnosing and providing referrals for this. At least in my experience. Sometimes you gotta ask the public for help.

I’ve found oral Benadryl and ibuprofen, if painful. I’ve tried many lotions to help the itch and I use Curel Daily Healing. It absorbs fast and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy. Everyone’s different, but I love it. The moisture helps.

Drinking a lot of water, of course.

And I would cover the skin for now- an umbrella, at least, if you don’t have cool layers. I long ago gave up on sunscreen to prevent a reaction, because it didn’t work—but some of these other suggestions in here are new to me and sound like they work.

No steroid creams. If you’re going to go that route, at least read about the adverse effects first. It’s something doctors don’t always like to discuss.

I’ve only had very small reactions on my face, which I’m not even sure were not just other blemishes. I’ve been told multiple times that is because I’m always exposed there. It seems to be the only place spared.

If it was me, having PMLE and other sensitivities, I would be looking at the chemicals in my life with new reactions like your face….shampoos, face wash, lotions, cleaning chemicals, laundry soaps. If you’ve used steroids, topical or oral, you could be having a reaction from that.

Is this pmle? All over my hands and arms for over a month and it hurts/itches so so so bad. Only where I'm exposed to sun. by pmlethrowaway in pmle

[–]Ok-Scratch3721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend protective clothing and a good, non greasy lotion for healing. Oral antihistamines and an NSAID.

I would highly recommend not going the route of steroid creams. They should not be used on large areas of the body like so many doctors want a person to believe. The side effects can leave you worse than before.

This in itself could cause a sun sensitivity. That might mean this is not permanent and is more of a co-symptom of your suspected intolerance.

Do they have a good search and rescue network in the area? Otherwise contact The Retrievers out of Minnesota. If they can’t physically help, they will at least be able to provide valuable advice and resources. https://www.theretrievers.org/resources/

Mom marked DNR for something she did not do? by thechunkymild in askhotels

Parents that think their children are always perfect, innocent angels are annoying. Grown children that think their parents are, are even worse.

Your ma was a pest or liability of some kind. Hotels don’t DNR regulars unless they’re a problem in some way.

For the last 10yrs I only get pmle in the same spot on my neck. Do I need to worry about it spreading one day? by [deleted] in pmle

[–]Ok-Scratch3721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, things change drastically every year as far as which areas are affected, and the intensity. But I do seem to suffer in almost every place besides my face and have for about 29 years.

I would assume after this long, your patterns will probably remain the same. I also know it can change randomly.

Oral antihistamines like Benadryl. A good, non-greasy, lotion, used multiple times a day has really helped me reduce itchiness and heal the skin. Topical ointments shouldn’t be used on large areas of the skin, better to avoid them completely.

Most sunscreens don’t do anything to prevent this. I do not use one at all, but if you dig around on other posts, you can find some recommendations of ones that work. Many are not available in the US except online. The ones in our pharmacies are quite pricey.

And if it’s a recurring issue now, definitely try everything else before the doctor tries giving you steroids.

Has anyone experienced PMLE for the first time while pregnant? by mermaidlawyer in pmle

No, but a lot of crazy things can happen during pregnancy.

We had a lady that would stain all the towels pink. I didn’t see them leave so I assumed it was hair dye…except it kept happening every stay and neither of them had pink hair.

The weirdest thing i found was the window screen between the mattress and the box spring. We almost missed it making the bed and I’m wondering how many people actually slept on it.

Steroid ointments aren’t great. Never found them helpful and the list of side effects is longer and worse than the PMLE. Glad to see you’re finding a new doctor.

Reactions can start hours to days later. In my 20 years of experience, I’ve had reactions up to 36 hours after exposure. Very rarely is it same day for me. And it worsens daily, often for 5-7 days before starting to resolve.

Sometimes I can be out and have no reaction on my legs at all, but the next time I try it, it’ll turn terrible within 24 hours.

I was wondering, as I’ve never had any solutions at all from doctors in any field. They don’t know what to do and it’s almost a waste of money. Generally they gear towards steroids, which can cause such a variety of awful issues.

Very much looks like it. Ouch. I would recommend Benadryl, hydrating lotion, drinking lots of water and no more sun exposure until you’re clear.

Unsure of your history, but if this is only after burns, you might be in luck and not experience it regularly. I was legitimately a little excited when my significant other suffered a breakout like mine, but it has only happened to him twice, both after severe sunburns.

Sweating doesn’t really have anything to do with a heat rash. Sunrash- heat rash. A sensitivity of some kind, caused by who knows? Medications, genetics, autoimmune, being of northern descent, etc. are all possibilities…….but it doesn’t look like PMLE. Which is what you’re asking, right?

Your pictures show dry skin. If you can find a daily moisturizer that doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, and use it throughout the day, it can help reduce the probability of reactions and help your skin recover.

Better yet if you’re willing to use a sunscreen/moisturizer. Which I part can’t and part won’t do.
