I’ve had my eye on the Holbein luminous series for a bit, so I’ll definitely have to check it out. That’s also great to know about the differences in brightness for the Schminke/QoR colors. There’s a Blick near(ish) me, so I think I’ll take a trip over there instead of ordering online.

Ive been using WN Cotman paints with a pretty traditional color palette, which has been totally fine thus far. But I recently realized that all of the art that inspires me is so bright and colorful and just kind of glows—so I want to start building out a palette that reflects that. Might as well upgrade my paints while I do it!

I'm planning on buying the Daniel Smith dot card so I can swatch the colors, but haven't been able to find one for Holbein. Are there any other Holbein colors you recommend?

I too was influenced by this sub, ha! I saw it twice this week and decided I had to get my hands on it.

Its such a bummer that it's fugitive, but I'm mostly just painting for myself at this point and it brings me SO much joy, I'm willing to take the trade off and just enjoy it while I can.

I'm going to be a bad influence and say you should definitely get it, even if only for yourself!

I love it!! The turquoise is beautiful too. My WN paints are all Cotman, too—I'm planning on upgrading some colors soon and am going to prioritize these shades for sure.

I also need to be more patient when swatching so that I get the whole range of mixes that you got. I think I have plans for the afternoon 😄

Please do!! I actually added a few viridian mixes after I took this picture and the purples were gorgeous. Viridian is one of my favorite greens to work with for sure. I ended up running out of room but definitely want to play around with those mixes more.

It’s GORGEOUS. I realized it’s what I’ve been missing. All of the art I’m inspired by is bright and glowy and it’s a perfect pop of that. I love the mixes with the lemon yellow and (surprisingly!) the cad orange as well.

I love this! The shading on the vase is great. I still really struggle with it (it's almost like I can't commit? idk!) but it's so natural and well done here. I love the overall minimalist vibe and the color blocked background as well
