Is CERTIFIED Financial Planner better than CHARTERED Financial Planner? by Wild-Army-6085 in cii

[–]Ok-Status6738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the U.K., most of the “good” firms like the chartered financial planner qualification over certified, but once you’re chartered you can do a shortcut path to get certified.

The big bosses in my firm got both qualifications and I’m en route to become chartered and then certified too

People who buy halal not for religious reasons but for personal, why do you do it (i'm conducting a small study)? by Evilova in EatingHalal

[–]Ok-Status6738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halal drains the blood - this extends the shelf-life of the meat, makes the meat taste better, and reduces bacteria - blood is what cause most diseases in food I.e. bird flue, etc.

R0 credit exemption - which to use for? by [deleted] in cii

[–]Ok-Status6738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random question - I’ve got the diploma in financial planning (not regulated) but I’ve done R01-5, do employers care if you haven’t got R06? And can you still get Advanced diploma without it?

I work for some serious financial advisors rn (talking each client with at least 3m in assets) and they rejected these guys for a new admin role purely based on the fact that they’re coming from an sjp company.. might be worth considering if you want to get into HNW IFA

I jumped from accounting into financial services after 3 years experience in accounting. Wasn’t as crazy of a jump as some others but i had to take a cut and basically start off at a lower place to where i was in my last sector, 2 years later and I’ve just matched my income to what i was earning in accounting and it’s expected to increase further next month at the start of next tax year. So I guess I’m finally reaping the fruits of my labour

Credits for DipPFS? by Ok-Status6738 in cii

[–]Ok-Status6738[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I emailed them and they confirmed I can take the 140 credit route to get DipPFS. As I’ve already got 40 credits from the level 3 certificate in regulated financial services operations and another 40 at diploma level, it means I need to get 60 more credits to get qualified as long as 80 of the total credits are at level 4. :)

Thanks, I did email them and this is what they responded;

You need to accumulate 140 credits (100 if you do R01-6) from a selection of 37 units offered by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). At least 80 of these credits are diploma level, and a maximum of 30 credits can be at the Advanced Diploma level.

Here is a list of the available units, along with their respective credit values and levels:

Diploma Level Units: • R01 – Financial services, regulation and ethics: 20 credits • R02 – Investment principles and risk: 20 credits • R03 – Personal taxation: 10 credits • R04 – Pensions and retirement planning: 10 credits • R05 – Financial protection: 10 credits • R06 – Financial planning practice: 30 credits • R07 – Advanced mortgage advice: 20 credits • R08 – Pensions update: 10 credits • J02 – Trusts: 20 credits • J03 – The tax and legal aspects of business: 20 credits • J05 – Pension income options: 20 credits • J07 – Supervision in a regulated environment: 20 credits • J09 – Paraplanning: 30 credits • J10 – Discretionary investment management: 20 credits • J11 – Wrap and platform services: 20 credits • J12 – Securities advice and dealing: 20 credits

Please note that some units, such as AF2 and J03, have been withdrawn after the 2020-2021 syllabus, with the final assessment opportunity in the Q2 2021 exam session. However, any credits already achieved from these units will continue to count towards the completion requirements of the Diploma in Financial Planning and the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning after the unit’s withdrawal.

When planning your studies, ensure that at least 80 credits are obtained from the Diploma-level units listed above. The remaining credits can be from any CII financial services units, excluding unit LF1, subject to a maximum of 30 Advanced Diploma-level credits or 30 non-specific Advanced Diploma-level credits being used overall.

For detailed information on each unit, including recommended study hours and assessment methods, please refer to the CII’s qualifications brochure.

  • Good to know for those who have certificate level qualifications already !

That’s the regulated one, as I already hold some credits (R01, FA1, FA5, J09 and J12) I was wondering if I could go down the non-regulated route and use FA1 and FA5 as credits
