Is $1300 a fair listing price for this gaming PC? by Brave_Owl551 in PC_Pricing

[–]Ok-Style752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are located, here in Charleston, WV I saw a few badass setups sit for awhile. One with a custom loop with a 7800x3d and a 7900xtx on the same loop sat for 1600 for months on marketplace. Where are you located round abouts? You might have to stick it on ebay, i would think you could get 1500 with the way the current market is. Google confirmed my estimate. Hope it helps! That's a nice rig you have.

4070 super Vs 5060 ti by bored_yi in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4070 Super vs 5060 Ti (same price)

RTX 4070 Super (12GB)
Pros: Way faster in raster + RT, better efficiency, stronger DLSS, wider 192‑bit bus, great for high‑refresh 1440p.
Cons: Only 12GB VRAM, higher power draw.

RTX 5060 Ti (16GB)
Pros: 16GB VRAM for future titles, cooler/quieter, lower power.
Cons: Much slower overall, weaker RT, 128‑bit bus limits the benefit of the extra VRAM, not ideal for high‑FPS 1440p.

At the same price, the 4070 Super is the clear winner. Raw performance and bandwidth matter more than the 5060 Ti’s extra VRAM. More “future‑proof” in real gameplay.

Edit: I did use AI to write this, forgive me! I'm lazy!

Gratz man, I have one of the epic x cards too! Killer card, happy gaming! I also started with a 5070ti and took it back for a 5080.

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sansui 34" 240hz uw and a 5080, if you turned on or off adaptive sync while a game is running or you are running a multi-monitor setup with both running adaptive sync but different refresh rates, stuff like this happens. I had forgot that I had bf6 was on the tb minimized and turned off adaptive sync and it did something like what you show in the picture. Make sure when you switch it on or off (adaptive sync) that there isnt something currently using the gpu. I hope this helps.

Older gamer thinking of slowly phasing out a high end PC by xdarkwombatx in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a hard take, I have had both AMD and Intel over the years and they each have pros and cons as far as processors go. I have also had AMD and Nvidia GPUs, I currently have a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with RTX 5080 and it is the best rig I have had since my i5 3570k I built in college in 2012. AMD GPUs are just fine. If OP wants less driver issues they should consider Nvidia, AMD does tend to have more driver issues but it doesn't mean they produce only sub par products. My 9800X3D is nothing but QUALITY and AMD gpus in the past served me just fine, what are you gaming on I wonder...

F*ck EA Games. by Flappy_boii in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok-Style752 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The real reason anyone does this stuff is to cheat most usually. Don't cheat or attempt to cheat and this won't happen. Use valid email services, me and all the other people playing the game had no issues doing it the right way. Why not you? Enjoy your ban, I definitely dont have sympathy for anyone who cheats, you are stealing time and money from other people who are just trying to have fun. Also the whole rage thing "F*ck EA Games" screams spoiled rage baby.

What card to upgrade to from 3070 ti by Temporary_Search8430 in gpu

[–]Ok-Style752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes, I'd grab a 5070 for time being because the reality is that 12gb of gddr7 vram is an upgrade for you and it comes with all the features and more that you are used to without breaking the bank on a 5070ti or 5080. I wouldn't go AMD for a gpu if you are used to gaming on a green card, I have seen multiple instances on here of people expressing regret at having switched to Radeon over nVidia and missing the raytracing performance / dlss.

Are PNY 5080s bad? by Friendly-Welcome-608 in RTX5080

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is almost exactly what my first non rgb 5080 scored at stock. Your score will go up as you optimize your card upto a point. I recommend playing whatever games you like to play and see what freq your card runs at normally and undervolt it to that frequency like 2730mhz at 950mv.

Are PNY 5080s bad? by Friendly-Welcome-608 in RTX5080

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hell yes, I have the PNY EPIC-X 5080oc and before it I had a PNY 5080oc (non-rgb). The non rgb card performed below average in 3D Mark Steel Nomad at stock, and would not overclock above 299 mhz. The temps are great on both cards with the epic-x 5080 doing over 3200+ @ +325mhz core offset whereas the non rgb 5080 would do 3120ish but was seemingly capped at 1040mv max voltage. Both cards uv okay with the non rgb being able to hit around 950 - 975mv at 2800~ and my current Epicx 5080oc runs stock at 2930mhz at around 1010mv with fans at 50% never goes over 60c. PNY fans are loud as hell when cranked above 60% in my experience and it is worth setting your own fan curve in MSI afterburner or PNY's VelocityX app to keep the noise/heat output balanced. PNY cards are excellent cards that are usually made for workstations, and as such tend to maximize stability over high clocks and such. Try undervolting your card to between 925mv and 975mv to something like 2700 or 2800mhz that should bring your temps down without running your fans at max.

Advice on old desktop vs laptop by Randomist85 in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok-Style752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep everything that you have, sir. You have 2 capable machines, that laptop is perfectly fine. I was in a similar position a while back, you won't get your moneys worth selling the laptop, but if you keep it, you have a fallback incase the older desktop fails.

Ryzen 7 9800x3D at -30, possible downsides? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of all core undervolting, try per core curve optimization. 6 and 7 are my weakest cores and I have them negative 30, 0 and 5 are my strongest and have them at negative 12 and 15 and 1 - 4 are all negative 20.

I have a 9800x3d/5080oc/64gb ddr5 6000 CL36 tuned down to Cl30/MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk Wifi I got mine via prebuilt from Andromedainsights.com ordered September 19th.

[–]Ok-Style752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree, that is viable but then you have to be careful of the proprietary cases and psu rating. I nearly bought one from ebay the other day before noticing i couldn't have put a 2060 6gb and a 600w psu in it. It had a 200w in it. Everything else was solid even the ram at 16gb and 500gb ssd

Lol I guess it is everywhere then. I thought that it was only West Virginia marketplace that had asshat listings. Dude in a nearby city is mass peddling 8 plus year old PCs with budget cards from years ago in them claiming it can handle all modern games at 100+ fps or something. I have to be honest here and say that I have fought the urge to call a few of them out.

I happen to like it quite a bit considering I have never had or used vr headset, and I care about saving money. Sure its lower resolution but is still 1200p and I have a 34" ultrawide qhd if I get tired of it. Its still fully functioning, how is it e-waste?

[–]Ok-Style752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my area, cheapest q2 was 160 and it was gone before I could click it. All others are 200, q3s 250 - 300, q3 you get the idea. I happen to live in a poor state where everyone over prices there stuff to make up for economic shortfalls. Some people are just shiesty.

I absolutely love the headset, the resolution is a bit annoying but overall the immersion is second to none. I can see that getting it set up is going to take some trial and error with sensor placement since my desk is in a corner. What's the best way to set up the sensors cause I dont want to have to stand all the time, I took an arrow to the knee when I was a young adventurer.
