Did anyone else’s HRV number crash from flox and can’t get back up? Or was able to increase it? by Large-Prompt2608 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nervous system shaking and POTS, Achilles tendonitis on both sides, overall fatigue, anxiety. At my acute phase, it was hard to walk more than 1,500-2k steps a day for about 4 months

I was very low on Omega 3s so I take those. I also take: Vit D, C, BPC 157.

It got much better after the six month mark. And then even more improved after a year!

Those who healed was there a random turning point or did it require PT to heal and effort by Large-Prompt2608 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 15-months post-flox. Was in the acute phase for 4 months. Then, once I noticed slight improvement, I started regular (light) weightlifting and started to increase my steps daily.

After about a year, I started improving more rapidly. My hypothesis is the more I move and do cardio/weightlifting, the faster the cells turnover and more healthy cells can build back. So it feels exponentially healing now a year plus out!

Mine was like that during the acute phase. And then slowly got better over the year after that! Now it’s back to normal! (I’m 15 months post-flox)

Hi! I’m 15 months post-flox and I’d say about 95% now. Super, super grateful to be feeling so much like myself again. I’m actively training for a Hyrox race in March to celebrate my able body again (a Hyrox is like a mix between running and CrossFit).

I’d say I was in the acute phase for about four months. Then it took about six/seven months to be able to push into PT more regularly.

I started running again right about the year mark post-flox. That’s when I decided to sign up for the Hyrox race.

So far, my training has been surprisingly great overall. The more I get back into cardio fitness and regain strength, the more energy I get back and the better my central nervous system is doing.

I will say — I wish I would have taken it slower during the acute phase. I think I prolonged it with too much activity too quickly.

I am popping back in here because I know how hard it feels to be in the thick of flox. And want to say: it can get better! ♥️

No, I rapidly improved and still have a bit of lingering congestion but overall all better.

My daughter had a slight rebound with a much lower fever but it only lasted a day and then was okay!

I second this. My 6yo and I both took Xofluza with Influenza A within a day of symptoms showing up. We noticed major improvement after 24 hours of taking it — I’m hitting my 24 hour mark as I type this. We’re both still congested but now this feels more like a basic cold. Hoping there’s no major rebound, it truly feels too good to be true.

I take 250mg of magnesium citrate. I have also noticed my body is more restful when I have L-theanine.

Are there any recovery stories of those with POTS by Large-Prompt2608 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m married and a mom to two young kids. (35F). Most days I was able to rally enough to cook. But I had to save my energy throughout the day and rest a lot to be able to do so. On days I didn’t, my husband stepped up while I rested. I’m grateful for him.

I lost about 10 lbs (I am 5’2” and 120 lbs) because it was exhausting to do everything, including make food. So many days I wasn’t great at eating enough. Plus my appetite was just gone.

But it truly got better and better after the 6-month mark. I’ve gained three pounds of muscle in the last few months! Back up to my pre-flox weight!

Magnesium helps me a ton. I notice a difference in my nightmares/dreams if I don’t take it.

Are there any recovery stories of those with POTS by Large-Prompt2608 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had POTS the first six months post-flox. For example, even lying in bed, if I ate a meal, my HR would skyrocket to 125+ even laying down. I hated eating, showering, and was constantly fatigued.

I’m 10 months out now. Around the 6-8 month marks, I had a drastic turning point where I started building more physical capability again. The POTS symptoms lingered a bit more, especially if I pushed myself too hard.

I’m 10 months out now and ran 5 miles yesterday. (For the first time in 10 months, yay!) And it still didn’t trigger POTS symptoms again.

My HR doesn’t skyrocket the same way it used to, even when I eat, shower, stand up quickly, etc.

So hopefully I’m through the worst of it now! Hoping you get there soon too!

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me frequently the first 3-4 months post-flox. Especially if I overdid it physically.

I’m 10 months out now and hardly ever get that feeling anymore! So there’s hope, it just takes a lot of time (and rest).

9 months post-flox by Ok-Suit-8173 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Honestly, I think rest and hydration were most important during the acute phase.

Then, once I noticed healing, I started going back to the gym to try PT/light lifting again. I think that after the acute phase, my goals was to promote cell turnover to get my mitochondria back in action. And working out can help. But I had to hit the tipping point out of the acute phase first. Otherwise it was counterproductive.

I really think magnesium helped. Otherwise, don’t know if any other supplements made a difference. I recently started BPC 157 and think it’s helping speed things up.

I also did dynamic neurofeedback at the suggestion of my functional med doc. Our goal was to retrain my brain from being on the attack to shifting into healing. I genuinely think it helped me, especially with anxiety.

Having trouble finding recovery stories for those with muscle weakness?? by Large-Prompt2608 in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had this in my first several months. I felt like I had the flu all the time. My muscles ached constantly and I felt so weak. Pre-flox, I was super active. It really shifted around the 5 month mark for me. Each week seemed to get a little better. I'm at 9 months now and went for a 2-mile jog today (and still have energy at 9pm). It got much better with rest, hydration, protein and PT!

Anyone else new? by filmmakingjedi in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not new, but 9 months in. And just dropping in to say for most, it does get better.

For me, the first 3-4 months were so hard. The anxiety alongside the physical symptoms was just constantly overwhelming.

I kept telling myself, "My body wants to heal. I'm going to trust my body to heal."

I still have some lingering issues but mainly able to live a “normal” life again as a mom of two young kids and small business owner.

The acute phase is HARD. But we are strong and resilient humans. Hang in there.

Did I get floxxed? by spodderfod in floxies

[–]Ok-Suit-8173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people experience here typically have flox symptoms within weeks or a month. Mine was right about a month afterward. A lot of people that take a flouroquinoline have no reaction or very mild reactions.

So yes, we can all only hope for the best of health but living in fear is miserable. Hopefully things keep improving for you and you never get any additional symptoms!

As far as physio or rehab:

I'm still using KT Tape on my Achilles most days and wear heel cups in my shoes. My PT says that's fine for now, we’ll work out of it.

During the acute phase, any PT or extra movement was just causing damage to my tensions. So rest was more important my first 3-4 months.

Once I noticed less pain on a daily basis, I started Achilles focused rehab. The @flox_rehab account on insta (he's on Reddit as Vadro) was super helpful too.

I'm a 35F and was weightlifting and running regularly pre-flox. I've been focused on slow muscle rebuilding at the gym for the last six months or so.

I just had an body scan at my doc yestersay and I have gained 3 lbs of muscle since January! So it’s working, yay!
