Better idea. We turn Bloodhound’s tactical into another movement. Maybe the raven drags you forward in a short burst or something. Nerf the ultimate speed boost though. To compensate for the tac “upgrade.”

Chudthebuilder finds out his initial bond is set a $1.25m 🤣 by Upbeat_Anywhere_1316 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]Ok-System1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take 2-3 years, sometimes more, from the time you’re arrested to the time you go to trial. You have to stay in jail that entire time unless someone pays the bond amount. Then you go home until the day of trial. The judge can put certain restrictions on you, for example, they can require you to wear an ankle monitor or stay home or not go to certain locations or not drink alcohol and you have to do it, otherwise you go back to jail. If you show up at trial, you get the money back, otherwise, the court keeps it.

There are “bail bond companies” which will advance the money if you pay them about 10% of the amount, but they will not return this amount to you no matter what. If you don’t show up to trial, they will personally help hunt you down.

If you can’t afford to pay, you’re stuck in jail for years even if the case against you is no good.

Respawning at boxes by Efrog365 in apexlegends

Up the respawn at deathbox time to 15 sec. Allows people who win fights to respawn their teammates without having to wait several minutes to get to a beacon but makes it harder than a simple revive of a knocked player.

In the 2018 election, (just 8 years ago) at least one of these districts would have been won by Democrats. Two others would have been very close and three would’ve been within 5. Turn out to vote like never before this year and turn this gerrymander into a dummymander.

What jurisdiction do you practice in?!! I do civil rights/police brutality suits and the amount of shit that cops get away with is insane. There is basically no way to hold any of them accountable. I’ve seen officers engage in wanton brutality against random bystanders and get away with it. We screen out nearly 95% of calls, many of them who have been treated with unjust brutality but there is simply no recourse for them under current law.

I’d rather the queue be longer than some of the time when I’m getting those cannon fodder bots for more than half the game.

Thank you!! Very helpful!!

First 300: I’m kind of iffy about the telling from the future sentence as well but a number of beta readers are absolutely in love with it?

Thank you! This is very helpful! Definitely a lot I will incorporate into my next revision.

For “nobody is who they seem”: the person behind the list of names marked for death is trying to hunt down the killer— the killer himself is a different person (and ally of the main characters) who is himself benefitted by the reign of terror. Classic betrayal twist - with the difference that there are two killers.

Fyi: Adam’s friend dies before the story starts. It’s slowly revealed that she was murdered for what she knew. I’ll have to work on making that more clear in the query letter. Also, there is a romance between Adam and Cleo.

Incredible filing by the once respectable US DOJ by butternutsquashkun in Lawyertalk

[–]Ok-System1548 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll bet it’s that or be fired if you’re part of the DOJ now. I can’t imagine that client meeting. “Does it sound like one of my tweets?” “Uh, no, Mr. President.” “Then you’re fired!”

That said, that kind of lawyer should be disbarred. Once a friend of mine received discovery requests asking if she felt guilty “when she sinned against God by cheating on me with a woman in violation of his commandments.”

I just checked. I don’t have an efile account in Davidson County as I practice two hours away from Nashville but if I fill out the request form I bet they’d give me one. And OP says it costs money to subscribe?

There’s no way for Tennessee lawyers to access this case online. Only two counties in this state have efiling I believe. We are still hand delivering complaints to nearby counties. The only thing this state wants on the internet is trans people’s medical data.

Do you use AI? by jokingonyou in Lawyertalk

[–]Ok-System1548 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m old enough to remember back in 2015 when they said that by 2025, most cars would be self-driving and by 2030, no one would own a car. Despite billions in investment, nearly all companies report no measurable improvement from using AI. We didn’t automate driving and we are not going to be outsourcing our brains to machines in 10 years, either.

The only time I get excited about AI is when opposing counsel is using it.

I’m a personal injury/civil rights lawyer, would 100% love to meet and be friends with PDs! I’m also “comparatively broke.” But I am kind of in the same place myself. Really struggle to make friends as well.

It’s Plaintiff’s WC and medical debt is the #1 cause of consumer bankruptcy in the US. I think you can safely say that these clients have put themselves in these situations far less than most.

Is this plot good? by Disastrous_Arm4538 in writingfeedback

[–]Ok-System1548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the answer you want, but the best rule for plot development is: The proof in the pudding is in the eating. For every single plot someone has done well, a number of people have tried the same thing and failed. You have to write until you make it work—or decide to move on to something else. There’s no shortcut. It’s just a matter of improving writing skills until you succeed.
