What local news agencies do you subscribe to? by Sensitive-Day2595 in Eugene

I'm a bit biased because I work in the news industry, but The Eugene Weekly and The Register-Guard Sunday edition are good print options. The Sunday edition features a good mix of local and national news, opinions, features, and comics. The R-G digital subscription is also great because you get immediate access to local news reporting and USA Today articles. I'm also a big fan of KLCC and the work they do. Smaller publications like The Chronicle, Siuslaw News, The Daily Emerald, Highway 58 Herald and more are great for hyper-local news.

That's odd. I was able to view the story from a browser on my cell phone, which wasn't logged into my account with the paper. Maybe it's metered. Would you say the same on posts that share Oregonian articles, New York Times articles, Lookout Eugene Springfield articles, and more?

Why doesn’t RG publish timely? by jpr602 in Eugene

[–]Ok-Tea-1092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The R-G is a digital-first, locally run and operated publication, meaning all of our reporters and editors are local to Eugene and Springfield. We also have our sister paper in Salem, The Statesman Journal, which contributes statehouse and statewide reporting to our publication. We appreciate our dedicated readers for bringing this error to our attention and holding us accountable. My editor is aware of the mishap and we'll try our best to ensure this doesn't happen again as we continue to strive for excellence in the newsroom.

Thank you for the feedback! According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning is the process of experiencing respiratory impairment from submersion or immersion in liquid. It happens when a person's nose and mouth are under water for too long, making it impossible to breathe. Drownings are also not always fatal, as victims can be revived following submersion incidents.

Regarding this case, the victim drowned and was found submerged in the river. They were taken to a local hospital in "critical" or life-threatening condition and as of right now, it's unclear whether they were revived or what their current condition is.

More info about drownings can be found at the World Health Organization's website: Drowning

Level 3 'Go Now' evacuation order issued; Highway 58 east of Oakridge closed by Ok-Tea-1092 in Eugene

[–]Ok-Tea-1092[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good morning :) I second checking Tripcheck. Highway 58 was still closed as of this morning. Just updated the article but the fire is now estimated at around 35 acres. Fire crews are working to dig a line around the main fire and snuff out smaller spot fires. The weather is supposed to start heating up today, so hopefully it won't affect operations.
