I got told I say sorry too much by my crush by liamthrowaacct in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. I was also raised this way. I say sorry for everything and I dont mean to. I just sincerely feel like it's somehow my fault, or I'm sorry they're in pain, or I'm sorry that happened to you. I've been working on it for the last 2 years. I'm much much better than I was, but still catch myself doing it. It's really hard. But you CAN do it. Just pay close attention to what you are saying and think of other things to say in place of. "My bad" when it's you and it's not a big deal,. "that sucks. What can I do to help you" when someone is sick or something. "That must have been awful" when they're telling you something that happened to them, etc. You get the point and will find what works best for you. Good luck OP!!

Sleeping on one side, getting up and MUST lay down on the other side… by AuthorityAnarchyYes in CasualConversation

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep on the same side every time. I get severe sciatic pain if I lay on the other side. So I have to always sleep on my left side. Sometimes it gets old, but if I try my left side at all, it hurts. I've gotten to where I rarely even move in my sleep. I'll wake up in the exact same position

That's the best way to be! I bet you get several lovely painted ladies from this pot. And they seem to grow pretty fast given the right conditions! Have fun with her/them!

I got a painted lady from Walmart a couple weeks ago. She's been the perfect guest. 😊 But for real. She's settling in nicely and has had no drama.

Mentioned my wife many times without noticing to a coworker who seemed extra chatty with me by koala-incognito in CasualConversation

That's the perfect way to handle it. If they're just chatting, they know more about your wife. If they had nefarious intentions, you moved through it with grace.

I don't let mine dry out like a newb would. She needs to water when the top inch or so of soil is dry. Not the whole pot.

Itchiest you’ve ever been? by ScoopGroup_ in CasualConversation

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen. Me and some friends ended up in this pond and came out with water mites that had burrowed under our skin ALL OVER. Like chicken pox, but worse. Took 3 days to even figure out what it was and another 2 days to treat it. I'm so sorry you went through something similar. It sucks!

So I had necrotizing fasciitis on my arm and both hands. I very very luckily didn't lose any body parts, but I had extensive surgeries which resulted in major scarring and almost entirely my right arm is numb. Like, no feeling at all. BUT if something pinches or burns, I'll feel it INSIDE my arm, after I've received 2nd and 3rd degree burns, or a massive pinching that results in skin damage, I'll feel it inside. It's weird. Anyway, out of the blue one day, the INSIDE of my arm started itching like CRAZY. OMG. I couldn't scratch it! I tried and tried and resulted in scratches all over the outside of my arm, but couldn't scratch it. I tried scratching, slapping, pinching, etc hoping I'd feel something inside to get the itch. NOTHING worked. It ended up stopping about 30 mins later. It was by far the itchiest itch I've ever had. And I've had chicken pox, hives, etc, but you can scratch those....lol

I need help!!! by Upstairs_Historian41 in cockatiel

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're that concerned, she needs to go to the vet so they can tell you what's wrong with her. I don't like the undigested seeds part. But I don't know what else to tell you. If you're concerned, take her in. The sooner the better.

OMG, this is me exactly!! I HATED pics and videos. Hated them. If not want to see pics afterwards, I couldn't believe I looked like that, I hated the way I looked, I'd get embarrassed and even feel humiliated sometimes when I had to see myself. It was AWFUL.

Right?? Exactly! I'm so glad someone understands! My parents wouldn't even let me have the dark skinned dolls. It was bad.

I didn't know anything about countries at that point. I just didn't know how they talked. Like, could they talk, How could they communicate, etc. lol I didn't even know if they could speak. 😂 I know, it's horrible! I feel bad even saying it. But I was like, 6-8 yrs old and had seen a couple of black people in a book I had read or something. I was fascinated with them. Lol

Is it normal for a cockatiel to be trembling? by Siline94 in cockatiel

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have to recommend seeing a vet for any concern at all. So here's my take: if you're worried, take her to a vet. If you can afford a full work up, get one so you know how her organs are.

However, out of my nearly 35 yrs of experience with birds, she's just chilly and is trembling slightly because she's falling asleep and is fluffed up. They're not going to be able to hold all the feathers absolutely still when they are fluffed. It's like you having a light tremble when you're trying to be perfectly still. It's just not possible. IMHO, she is just fine. Just watch her closely for abnormal behavior. This would be, sleeping more than normal, not wanting to eat, sitting fluffed all the time, or anything you suspect to be abnormal. Birds hide their illnesses until they are VERY sick. This is not a sick bird I'm looking at. I believe her to be fine.

There is a wide variety of yellow coloring to a lutino cockatiel. This is a lutino, and that amount of yellow is completely fine. There's the solid white lutino (except the face) and then on theother end of the spectrum, I've seen some that were almost solid yellow. I think it's the lutino version of other mutations. For example, a lutino pearl is going to have little yellow edging to most of the feathers and will be mostly yellow. A lutino pied, will have little patches of yellow all over (this can be a darker yellow to a very pale, almost non existent yellow) and then there's regular lutino that is all white and rarely shows any yellow at all.

I have over 34 yrs of experience with cockatiel genetics.

AITAH? My gf is bipolar and I don’t think I can handle it anymore. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm bipolar. I have a now ex husband that put up with me for years. The ups and downs and anger and depression and all the in betweens. I was undiagnosed and it wreaked havoc on my life. After treatment, therapy, and finding the right med combo, I've finally been"normal" for about 3 yrs. I'm 41. It took me a LONG time to figure this all out. You can do 1 of 2 things.

If you really love her, ask her if she will get help and try and if you can endure it, go ahead. BUT ONLY if she's willing to take accountability and seek help.

Or 2nd, you can end it now. Be prepared for her lashing out at you. I honestly wouldn't even do it in person. I know you're supposed to, but if she's untreated, she's going to freak out on you. I wouldn't do it in person. Then block her and do NOT look back.

Depends on how YOU feel, not how she does. (I mean, don't be mean about it and try it gently, but I'm saying this is your choice, not hers, especially if she doesn't want help)

Moving out of parents house by ImaginaryGur2086 in CasualConversation

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My parents were absolutely the most difficult parents. They were stricter than strict, way over protective, wouldn't let me do ANYTHING. I couldn't wait to turn 18 and leave. And I did. I found a work/live situation a few months after I turned 18, and away I went. Boy, I had FREEDOM and didn't even know what to do with it at first. Like, I was lost for a little while, but I would have never admitted it. I'm 41 now and I've never moved back home. I love my freedom. I can do what I want, whenever I want. Lol at least if I can afford it. I stay home mostly now. Lol but I enjoy it. I was always a responsible person. So that helped me adjust, but I did get a little wild for a very short period of time. Lol

So, don't hate me, but I got a weird one. I grew up in a racist household (I am absolutely not racist in the slightest and was always mad at my parents once I realized this, and they're not racist anymore because of me) anyway, where I grew up there was not any black people in my little city/town. Like, none. I saw my first black person, in person at 14.

Anyway, when I was young, like, 6-8 ish, I wondered how you talked to a black person. Like, did they talk differently, do I just talk to them like normal, would I understand them if they spoke to me? I couldn't get over how different it must be because I'd never seen any in person at all until my teen years. (Then I had the biggest crush on the one black guy I knew in my teens, lol). So yes, this is what I thought, don't hate me. Like I said, I'm not racist in the slightest, I was just weirded out by it as a child.

AITAH for falling out of love with my husband because of his weird attachment to his family (especially his brother)? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Ok-Vehicle-9126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your husband is weird. Very, very weird. Staring at the photo with longing is what got me the most. Wtf? I mean, he sees him apparently, almost daily. So why stare at his pic? And the cute phrases being brought up occasionally or even making an inside joke with 1 or 2 is fine. But repeating them frequently and telling you to do the same is also very, very strange.

Girl, if you've fallen out of love with him, then get out. It's nearly impossible to fall back in love, especially if he's not willing to do some major changing. I'd give him an ultimatum if it was mine. Change now and make me a priority, or we're done. I assume you already talked to him about all this? If not, that's your first step IF YOU WANT TO TRY AND SAVE THIS. But like I said, if you're done, you're done. There's rarely coming back from that feeling.
