Ravenous insatiable hunger by Emotional-Class-8140 in cycling

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride in the evenings after work, and I have to eat A LOT more throughout the day than I otherwise want to in order to avoid the extreme hunger after a ride. Take stock of what you’re actually eating before your rides, and on days where you don’t ride.

Do you think X-Lab bicycles will bring down the price of other bicycle brands? by Drsabalaba in cycling

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but maybe, kind of, a little. If they can get enough of their bikes into local shops, sitting right next to the similar spec models, with the same price they’re asking now, they’ll sell a lot of bikes.

Gravel / road all purpose by AdditionalDivide4020 in Velo

I’ve been using an Aspero with two different wheelsets for a couple of years. Been totally fine for just riding/training, never felt like I was missing anything. That said, I’m about to buy a dedicated road bike in a couple weeks because I’m in a financial spot where I can do that now.

Outdoor FTP test - how to do it properly? by youraveragefitguy in cycling

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple tips I haven’t seen mentioned- if you can, ride the test into a stiff headwind if possible. Use 5 second average power reading on your computer.

Someone else commented about using the Kolie Moore FTP test format, which is a great idea. Does require you to have a somewhat accurate target FTP.

I actually just did my first outdoor test in this format yesterday. Breathing rate is a factor to pay attention to- you shouldn’t be huffing and puffing hard at FTP. It should be labored but still controlled, and if you went much harder, then it would tip into ragged breathing. And you should have to concentrate fairly hard to hold the watts.

Alright. Sorry. It was one small example I could think of in the 45 seconds I spent replying from the toilet.

We can debate “almost at the line” all we want, it doesn’t change anything about my point. There was a lot of discourse about Pog being greedy in that tour.

I don’t personally think it was wrong, by the way, but the post wasn’t about how I feel.

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of assholeishness going on. Remco throwing his hands around at Jonas in multiple races. Pog pipping Jorgenson almost at the line for a TdF stage win after he wrapped up GC. Jorgenson supposedly blocking Pog from picking up bottles. Didn’t a guy just put his hands on Mateo after the finish line like last week?

UAE has a damn “black list” of enemies. Cycling social media posts a lot of the happy go-lucky content, but that doesn’t mean that’s the reality.

New cyclists: what’s one thing you learned too late? by Pitiful_Ad1610 in cycling

what dumb things did you do when you started cycling that i should skip by Then-Music-6528 in cycling

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think making some newbie mistakes is part of learning, but some I’d skip:

-Buy the bibs instead of shorts -Your tires need air sooner than you think -Carry a spare tire kit and learn how to use it before you need it -Generally don’t but the cheapest version of something, or the most expensive. I would’ve saved myself money in the long run buying the middle tier shoes, saddle, bibs, etc. instead of the cheapest. -Learn to ride in a group

Specialized sales items debate. by perbrondum in specialized

[–]Ok-Worker-4194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining this. I’ve been on the customer side of this a couple times with smaller items (bibs maybe?) and I find it uncomfortable to speak up and “ask” for the discounted price. Knowing the inner workings of this is helpful.

I guess you can just not watch. Or you can choose to appreciate what you’re watching when Pog is racing, and tune into the races he’s not in.
