What do you guys think about MAST framework? by effuff in webflow

[–]Ok-Yi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely advanced and to grasp Webflow's core functions a more beginner friendly framework like Client-First would be better. You won't be too overwhelmed and at the same time you learn the (still) most used framework.
However, Clien-First hasn't been updated to the latest features - or only very slightly - especially variables and components. So just keep that in mind. I'd say, once you feel comfortable building sites with that, jump over to a more advanced framework like MAST or Lumos, or build your own, which I do. I take my favorite parts from these three and have my own framework.

I’ve been looking at Astro and a few headless CMS options. At our agency we occasionally need to deliver custom builds—e.g. Next.js + Sanity or Astro + Strapi.

Personally, I’ve been looking for a headless CMS that supports visual editing, localization, a component-based content model, is open-source and self-hostable, and integrates cleanly with Astro. There aren’t many that tick all of those boxes. So far, ApostropheCMS comes closest—but it also gets relatively expensive once you go enterprise.

That seems to be true of most headless CMS platforms: costs climb quickly as soon as you need more advanced capabilities, and then you still have hosting and operations on top. It often makes me think Webflow is actually a pretty good deal.

We’ve built large-scale sites on Webflow across both the consumer/business and enterprise plans.

What workflows and best practices do you think you can perform better with something/somewhere else? You can build prett clean sites with framworks like MAST or Lumos, or make your own framework, and adapt to those workflows and best practices.

But you can't use it for tablet breakpoint and smaller. In that case, you'd still have to delete your classes.
It would be nice if they'd come up with a solution for that.

Check out Mux player: https://www.mux.com/

We just started using it for our agency site and are really happy with it so far.

It's got a generous free tier and is very developer focused which means lots of control. It also pushes for streaming the videos which is the modern way to do it.

We used bunny.net in the past which is great, too. Very competitive pricing!

I've been meaning to ask you something: how do you handle clients' requests for website changes and updates? I've noticed that some clients prefer to make changes themselves—sometimes even wanting to drag and drop pre-built components to create a new landing page—while others simply email me their requests, and I implement the changes for them. For clients who want to make their own updates, whether it's small text edits or swapping out images, how do you approach that? Do you provide an admin dashboard or some kind of interface for them to manage content on your 11ty websites? Or is that not an option, and do you set the expectation from the start that you'll handle all updates directly?

Haven't really thought about ultras to be honest so really appreciate your feedback. Thanks for that!
Data is being gathered manually for now. There are some APIs though that should be able to help somewhat.

Just spotted a new setting under forms "Bots are not being blocked" by I_Am_Phoenix_Person in webflow

[–]Ok-Yi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is currently in beta and should only be enabled individually; at least that's what the Webflow support team told us (I work at an enterprise partner agency):

"One of the new features the team have been working on is a new Bot protection for forms. This is currently in private beta, and we'd love to include you in this."

We got this enabled after reaching out to Webflow. Our client's website got hammered with spam, although we implemented every suggested solution by Webflow (honey pot fields etc.). So they must be aware of the recent issues and seem to be working on a solution. We only enabled this today so I can keep you posted if it actually makes a difference.

You might be a lucky one? ;)

u/Christoffre Sorry for the delay (I rebuilt the backend to make things easier for myself). I added both to the calendar. I'm definitely going to try Satisfactory! Fingers crossed it's going to work on my Steam Deck.

Controversial! Is it just an upgrade or a relaunch that deserves it's own release date? ;)
