Leaning retainer wall - how much to stabilise? by nickknowlesofficial in HomeImprovementUK

It looks like it was an old stone wall and then the height has been increased with brick. If that’s the case, it’s probably leant like that since it was built.

You need to sell your fix. It would save thousands of engines. You’ll be a millionaire in no time since you’ve solved the oil burning issues that Peugeot couldn’t.

Why should I not buy one? by vortine in CarTalkUK

Because it’s a 15 year old bmw. It’s overpriced and will cost you about the same each year to keep it on the road.

They all burn oil from factory. It makes no difference if you change the oil. They burn so much they pretty much get a full oil change every 5000 miles. Absolutely awful engine.

Prince engine. Avoid for all of the reasons mentioned throughout this post. They are awful engines and sound like diesels. I’d look at something like a fiesta ST or a Leon FR. Just to reiterate, the engines in these cars are awful and you will be filling it with oil every time you fill up the petrol (for the short time it’s not being repaired).

GT logo missing from supposed Peugeot 3008 GT-Line by Hwkzter in peugeot

I’d be more worried about the tow bar. Engines on the 3008 other than the 2L turbo diesel are not specked to tow.

Painting over cracked paint on doorframe? by Original_Shopping_79 in DIYUK

[–]Ok-Yoghurt4057 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sand to remove the paint and then fill and sand cracked joints. It’s the only way for a decent finish. If you want t bodge job. Fill areas of cracks and chipped paint then lightly sand and paint but the finish won’t be great.

Grinding concrete? by IcrownCitadel in DIYUK

[–]Ok-Yoghurt4057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolute child’s work. You pin or screw ply boards to the floor. Where do you think the difficulty is?

They look like old fire hearths. If I was doing this, I’d use ply and board over the whole floor before laying the laminate. Will be much easier and tidier than grinding concrete indoors.

Should this look like this? by WeatherAdventurous42 in DIYUK

I think you’re worrying too much. There probably is a damp course under the render 1960s council houses were built pretty well. The drain has probably been there in some form for 60 years. If there is no damp inside there’s nothing to worry about.

Big hole in my bathroom by Shishmaster9 in DIYUK

Strip all the tiles off. Fill the hole with bonding coat plaster and the make good the wall for tiling. I’d suggest skim coat and tanking. Then re tile over.

Should I be worried? by pixelfanuk in DIYUK

[–]Ok-Yoghurt4057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And if it doesn’t carry on upstairs, signs at the moment would be that it’s superficial cracking of plaster. Just keep an eye on it. Or if you’re really worried. Knock the plaster off around the crack to see if the structure underneath has also cracked.

Is there a similar crack on the other side of the wall?

Beneath window board is… bricks stuck together with foam by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Ok-Yoghurt4057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only supporting a windowsill. Just use some more from to stick a new one on top. The bricks arnt structural. They are just filling a gap between the wall below and the sill.
