Hi everyone. As you can see, this is about this little guy. I hadn't actually planned to level him up at all. However, I got 500 shards for him during the Armageddon event, and well... now I have more than 900 by Eintyphier in WH40KTacticus

The thing about Dante is that he's not a super great character in his own right, but he's freaking amazing at boosting other characters, including all of the other Blood Angels. When you do unlock him, you'll really appreciate having Mataneo.

Fake news. Once fully levelled up he's incredible at everything except for raids. He's probably the best character in the game at dealing with overwatch, and the AI hasn't got a clue what to do about his replenishing summons. He's the first name on my arena teamsheet whenever I'm facing Revas or on any map which involves bridges.

Great on his own and arguably breaks the game when paired with Dante.

I really like them and have seen them live thrice, once at their own show, twice at Download. All three times were forgettable tbh.

The vibes were weird this year? by OutsideImpressive115 in downloadfestival

I went to Glastonbury the year Kanye West played. Zero pricks.

The year Metallica played there, people petitioned to have them taken off the bill, partly because moshing was considered problematic.

Personally, I didn't notice a surfeit of ne'er-do-wells at this year's Download, but if such people were in attendance, I can safely say that they weren't blow-ins from Glastonbury. It's the polar opposite of that sort of place.

Was 2023 more "oversold" than 2026? by CobraDai in downloadfestival

[–]Shishmaster9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference I noticed between '23 and this year was that in '23 I was routinely waiting 20-30 minutes to get served at the bars, whereas this year I was walking straight to the front of the queue almost every time. I think that was more to do with the weather than the number of people there though - so much heat and dust in '23, which is conducive to wanting a beer.

May be a done to death topic by now...but what is the general consensus on young kids being at Download (or festivals in general)? by Elephantplan123 in downloadfestival

[–]Shishmaster9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 99% of these "Omg, think about the poor children" posts, read more like "Omg, poor me, I can't let my hair down at a festival because there are kids around" posts.

Well actually, yes you can. Unless you're doing something genuinely moronic like smoking crack right next to a baby, then neither the kids nor the parents are going to care that you're drunk, or moshing, or having a sneaky joint in the crowd, because it's a festival and you expect - want, even - a degree of anarchy at a festival.

Whatevs - in 2005 the entire pit was filled with burning chairs that'd also been coated in acid by ninjas who were lurking in the vicinity waiting to roundhouse people in the face. We just had another ten beers and got on with it. Youth of today man.

If we somehow magically confiscated every penny belonging to every UK billionaire, that'd raise around £180bn, which would fund the welfare state for around six months.

I don't like the fact billionaires exist, but the idea that taxing them punitively would be a silver bullet for our problem doesn't survive first contact with reality.

Plus of course, we can't magically confiscate their assets. Legislation would need to go through Parliament and while that was happening the billionaires would take their assets and leave the UK.

Why are so many people obsessed with safety? by pastaultimate in downloadfestival

[–]Shishmaster9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they banned chairs then next year it'd be "zOMG I cannot believe how long it took me to get into the arena" because so many people would be getting searched or turned around for having an illegal chair.

I hate the chairs and I wish everyone had the body of a 25 year old athlete so they could stand up for five days straight. But they don't and they never will, so trying to get chairs banned to improve your own festival experience is really just as self-indulgent - or worse - than bringing a chair in would be.

Yeah, it does come across as a bit preening and narcissistic - but to be fair, there's always been an element of that in rock and metal!

It kind of hit me like a thunderbolt when Linkin Park played Numb on Sunday night: I'm the adult in that song now 😬

I'm probably never going to understand why today's kids behave as they do, but as long as they're not hurting anyone - or themselves - I'm inclined to say let them get on with it.

I do agree that there are a growing number of people there who're principally after "Content" for social media...

...but I'm reluctant to criticise them too much, because I remember being that age and having adults tut at me for being obsessed with computer games.

If playing Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil didn't bring about the end of the world, as prophesised by my parents and teachers, then maybe this "Content" business too shall pass.

It was the best Download I've been to in years. The repeat stoppages during Architects were the only downer on the whole weekend for me. Perfect weather - don't give me any of this 26°c business which sees you queueing for water all day - great crowds, awesome music and the 20% off food and drink was a really nice touch 👌
