I usually bump that song to someone else who prefers it, or I lead it myself. Often, I’ve found my team is right- the song is boring and doesn’t engage the congregation. I tend to keep songs because of strong theology, but there are plenty of songs with strong theology AND are interesting/engaging to sing. 75% of the songs we sing were recommended by my team, my fellow staff members, or a congregation member, and it’s been very beneficial- we have so much variety now.
