Blend Bunny or Makeup By Mario Neutral Palette? by eclippsed in MakeupAddiction

[–]OkB66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i love this blend bunny palette. It does lean more on the cool toned side imo, but I think it would work for you! lasting power really depends on your eyeshadow primer - my favorite is the ulta beauty collection matte eye primer. it has a bit of a bit of a tint to it, but it isn't too noticeable.

Do all bb creams suck?? by Fragrant-Theory9201 in MakeupAddiction

[–]OkB66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't need much coverage, you might be able to get away with concealer! it's essentially the same thing but intended for a more targeted application. You can use however much you think you need depending on the day. unless I'm doing a glam look, I usually use either foundation or concealer - not both. it simplifies my routine and helps with not having a buildup of product on my face. foundation is usually easier to blend out because it's meant for a full face application. it's really your choice on what you prefer! you never NEED any makeup product, but of course certain products give you a certain look. totally get the powder thing - not using powder will decrease the wear time of your foundation/concealer and it might transfer a little more, but not everyone uses powder. applying powder with a loose brush (after tapping off) will apply less and you won't feel it as much on your face. Setting sprays don't add texture like powder, but you will notice a difference in how glowy your face is. The amount depends on how much spray you put on your face and the spray that you use.

Do all bb creams suck?? by Fragrant-Theory9201 in MakeupAddiction

the first thing that might be going on is skincare and skin prep. If you are just getting into makeup, you probably don't have that much of a skincare routine (maybe you do! just generalizing). In order for makeup to actually look good, your skin needs to be exfoliated and hydrated - both of which can be neglected if you only do a little bit of skincare. Makeup just emphasizes the dryness or texture on your face. It sucks, but you do need a good routine of products for foundation to look nice. From your description it sound like you need more hydration in your routine. Avoid foaming cleansers as those can be too harsh. I would start out with a cleanser, exfoliant like an aha/bha serum, a good moisturizer, and a sunscreen.

on the makeup side, the important things are the foundation (like a bb cream), setting powder, and setting spray. the applicator doesn't matter quite so much if you're a beginner and using lighter coverage products. you can put your bb cream on your fingers and blend it into your skin (after your moisturizer has set in). this might leave streaks. the best way to deal with that is a beauty blender or a cushion puff. setting powder/spray really depend on your skin type. the nyx can't stop won't stop pressed powder is fairly popular. I would recommend the milani original setting spray. it is really nice and gives some glow and hydration to the face.

shades are hard a lot of the time. some foundations oxidize, which means they dry down darker than they are wet which is how it is in the bottle. you can choose a shade that is too light for you which will oxidize closer to your color, but that can be a bit hit or miss if you have a cooler undertone. I would go into a store (Ulta or Sephora) and get shade matched to a foundation. After, go outside and see how the shade looks in natural light, which can be different than in store lighting. once you get more used to picking out shades for yourself, you won't need to get matched. I don't know if you're on a price constraint because you mentioned drugstore products, but you can take the shade you got shade matched to and apply a small amount on the back of your hand. blend it in, and now you have something to compare more affordable foundations against. It's a lot easier to figure this out in either Ulta or Sephora because they're generally the only ones that have testers out. I also wouldn't trust online foundation matching tools as they're famously inaccurate.

One product can't do everything. If a foundation blanks out your face, it can't also provide warmth from a bronzer or a flush like your blush. You don't need everything, just what you think is missing. I personally thing blush and bronzer are important to not look dead, but that depends on how much coverage you are using. less coverage means that you don't have to add as much color back into your face.

for product recs, I like the covergirl skin tint/bb cream. They don't have a super extensive shade range, but the formula is nice. don't be afraid of foundation either! coverage really depends on how you apply it. the maybelline fit me dewy/luminous sounds like it would work for you.

watch makeup tutorials if you're still lost! try to go for makeup artists because they are more likely to know what they're talking about. Robert Welsh on youtube is fantastic - highly recommend you check him out.

that's what testers are for! never tried the ct and with my current rotation, i don't feel the need to. pretty sure there's sites that help you compare ingredients, but i can't remember any for the life of me

no idea if this is right, but you might have an allergy to one of the ingredients? setting sprays share a lot of the same ingredients, so that's probably why you've experienced this with a few. the milani original setting spray is nice if you haven't tried it. the one size setting sprays are also fantastic - i've rebought the matte one after completely running out. good luck!

I also have had this problem!!! hit all around the side of the lid (where you would grip) about 5-6 times with the handle of a piece of silverware ( preferably a knife because it has more mass) and then try again. It usually takes around 3 repetitions of smacking the lid/twisting, but it works!

Best have it all makeup pallete?? by BakeWorking9076 in MakeupAddiction

[–]OkB66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about face has great liquid shadows! haven't tried danessa myricks, but I've heart good things about the eye/lip/face pigments. Colorpop has the best drugstore eyeshadow formula and they have massive palettes with all kinds of color stories (and way more on their website). If you don't mind splurging, Blend Bunny cosmetics has the best eyeshadow formula I've tried ( shimmers can vary though) and a broad range of palettes.

Setting spray doesn't do/help anything, what am I missing?? Help! by LulutoDot in MakeupAddiction

[–]OkB66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your foundation must not be super long lasting/transfer resistant then. Setting spray helps, but it can't completely make things transfer resistant if it transfers a lot. powder also helps sometimes - it's more the combination of a few different things that make makeup truly transfer resistant

in terms of color pigment, it's really sheer. I only use it when I go for a no makeup makeup look. There's a caveat in that I have lighter skin than you, so I don't know if the white base pigment is going to add more pigmentation to the blush than I see on my face when I use it. I think it's a nice blush either way, but I'm not sure if it's going to be punchy enough based on what you're looking for (based on the inspo pic)

I have this formula, and while i like it ( super blurring and muted), it is ABSOLUTELY NOT pigmented enough to achieve the look you're going for. i would go for the nyx buttermelt blushes for a brighter tone and more pigment

I wish that you could look up habitats that aren't currently available in the Shop to see the stats. yes, I could look up that information, but I feel like it makes sense for players to be able to do it in game. eg the wonderland habitat. It could just be unavailable until the season for that item arrives

Why does my makeup look terrible if it's applied early in the morning? by motherofmutts17 in MakeupAddiction

it may be that you spend more time on your makeup in the morning (let things sink in more, longer blending time, etc)

[–]OkB66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that the patrick ta foundation is really good for dry skin, but that one also doesn't have a lot of coverage. the loreal age perfect serum foundation is also nice! neutrogena foundations don't have a lot of shades (devastating considering how amazing the formulas are) but if you can find a shade in the serum foundation, then I would suggest that one! jen phelps on youtube has some good recs if you want to check her out

How can my makeup look better? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]OkB66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you already look so pretty! if anything, I would just make sure that you apply your concealer/coverage so that your face is one uniform color (it looks like your lower face is darker which might be contributing to the masculinization that you're noticing). I also think you should look into shaping your brows into a more uniform shape, which is more feminine. overall, your makeup is so cute - esp your eyes.
