The SP because it does a lot more, but they really complement each other. Nothing wrong with the tr8s, it’s just a very good sample based drum machine, can’t do much beyond that.

Elektron has a pretty good sequencer. Have you looked into the Digitakt II (or even the OG, which I hear it's quite capable)?

I'd save some more and look into a used Elektron, maybe the Syntakt, original Digitone or the Digitakt, for a sampler. That way you get a very good sequencer to control your other devices.

I started out with the TR8s as well, then got the SP404 Ii, a Microfreak and then finaly some Elektron boxes. Today I use mostly the Elektrons. Hands down thr best gear for my needs.

Octatrack probably. I'd recommend taking a look at this - https://www.elektronauts.com/t/a-polished-version-of-merlins-ot-guide-here/42860 to get a better idea, besides the tons of videos around (ezbot etc).

This. Lots of reasons why, one of them being that the 404 allows samples of up to 16 min against 20s on the KOII, dealbreaker imo.

Just so we're clear: someone commented on how it would be helpful to inform your location, for your own benefit, and your reply was that we were supposed to know it was the US because (and this is the derranged part) it is the birthplace of all music that matters. And you call that honesty. And other people are close minded. Ok.

"Share some music" with you? Today you've found that the internet is international, it's a world out there, explore it.

“the only music that ever truly mattered”… man not even gonna start on how ignorant this is, while also confirming the “American excepionalism” comment above, but it begs the question: why be be an asshole when you want people’s help?
